Service Number Inventory lets you maintain your service numbers.
This function also lets you forecast and create reports on service number usage. The system tracks service number assignment and availability, and ensures the same service number is never used by two different services of the same type at the same time. While an item can exist in one or more inventories, it must be unique within any given inventory.
The following must be installed/configured to use this function:
-
Inventory Class - System-defined Inventory Classes differentiate between inventories that require different information and use different business rules. A Service Number Inventory class is created during installation.
-
Inventories - Within your service number inventory class, you can create multiple service number inventories to organize your service numbers.
-
Inventory Group Types - You can define inventory group types to classify your service number inventory groups by type.
-
Inventory Groups - Inventory group types can be divided into inventory groups to further classify your service number inventories.
-
Inventory Statuses - Every item in inventory is assigned a system-defined status, which identifies the current state of that inventory item (available, assigned, retired, reserved, and so on.).
-
Service Number Blocks - Service number blocks contain the service numbers that are used by your company. Service numbers are grouped in blocks of 1000.
-
Service Specifications in Product Catalog - In the Product Catalog, you specify whether or not a service type utilizes inventoried service numbers and if so, which inventory it uses.
-
Service Number Inventory Permissions - Permissions let you determine who can maintain your service numbers inventories and whether service numbers can be reserved.
