Duplicate Service Wizard - Inventoried Service

Prev Next

You can duplicate an inventoried service via the Duplicate Service Wizard. This wizard functions the same for inventoried services as it does for non-inventoried services, with the following exceptions:

  • For non-inventoried services, you enter the desired service numbers directly into the Service Number From and To fields on the Duplicate Service window. For inventoried services, you use the Options button provided in the Duplicate Service window to enter the desired service numbers in the Service Number From and To fields.

  • If you are duplicating an inventoried wireless service, the MIN field cannot be changed in the Specify Wireless Information window that is displayed after you click Add. The system automatically populates the MIN field with next available MIN in inventory.

See the Changing a Service Number for instructions on how to duplicate a service, as this information is not repeated here. This section only describes how to use the Options button for assigning service numbers to an inventoried service that is duplicated.

    To duplicate an inventoried service:

  • From the Catalog Items tab in the Customer # window, right-click on an active inventoried service and select Duplicate Service. The Duplicate Service Wizard is displayed.

  • Proceed to the Duplicate Services window.

    DuplicateInventoriedService

  • Use the Options button to select the method you want to use for assigning service numbers - Choose Service Numbers, Add New Service Numbers To Inventory, Use Temporary Service Numbers, or Create as Ported-In Service Numbers. A check mark is placed to the left of the most recently selected option. Once you select an option, it applies to all service numbers you add from this point forward, until you either turn the option off or select another option. To turn an option off, click the Options button and select that option again. The check mark is removed.

    Note

The Add New Service Numbers To Inventory option is only provided if you are duplicating a wireline service AND the "Allow Additions to Inventory" option is selected for this inventory (see Service Number Inventories) AND Application > CostGuard Client > Inventory Management > Service Number Inventory > Service Numbers > New is enabled in your Permission Profile.

    Note

The Use Temporary Service Numbers option is only provided if you are duplicating a non-wireless service AND the service allows temporary service numbers. The Allow Temporary Service Numbers check box must be selected for this service in the Product Catalog.

    • To choose one or more service numbers from inventory, click the Options button and select Choose Service Numbers:

      • Enter any other information that pertains to the new service numbers and click Add. The Choose Available Service Numbers window is displayed.

      • Select the service number(s) you want to add to this order. See Choose Available Service Number for additional information.

      • When you close this window, the selected service number(s) are displayed in the bottom portion of the Duplicate Service window.

    • To assign one or more service numbers that are not in inventory and subsequently add the new service numbers to the inventory assigned to this service, click the Options button and select Add New Service Numbers To Inventory:

      • The Service Number From and To fields are enabled.

      • Enter the service number or range of service numbers you want to add to this order, just as you would for a non-inventoried service.

      • Enter any other information that pertains to the new service numbers and click Add. The specified service number(s) are displayed in the bottom portion of the Duplicate Service window.

        Note

The specified service numbers are not added to the inventory assigned to this service, until this order is successfully submitted and completed. If the order is cancelled, the service numbers are not added to inventory.

    • To assign a temporary service number, select Use Temporary Service Numbers:

      • The Service Number From field is populated with a temporary service number - "XXXXXXXXXX".

      • Enter any other information that pertains to the new service numbers and click Add. The temporary service number(s) are displayed in the bottom portion of the Duplicate Service window.

    • To assign one or more service numbers that are not in inventory and subsequently add the new service numbers to the inventory as ported-in numbers, select Create as Ported-In Service Numbers:

      • The Service Number From and To fields are enabled.

      • Enter the service number or range of service numbers you want to add to this order, just as you would for a non-inventoried service.

        Note

Temporary service numbers are not allowed in the Service Number From and Service Number To fields.

      • Enter any other information that pertains to the new service numbers and click Add. The system asks you if you would like to specify the Ported From carrier for the new service number(s):

        SpecifyPortedFromQuestion

      • If you do not want to specify a carrier, click No. The specified service number(s) are displayed in the bottom portion of the Duplicate Service window.

      • To specify the carrier that owns the new service number(s), click Yes. The Port-In Service Number window is displayed and the Service Number field is populated with the first new service number you are adding:

        DupInventoriedServPortIn

      • Select the desired carrier from the drop-down list and click OK.

      • If you are only assigning one service number, that service number is displayed in the bottom portion of the Duplicate Service window.

      • If you are assigning more than one service number, the system asks you if you would like to specify the same Ported From carrier for all of the service numbers:

        DupInvServUseSamePortFrom.

      • To assign the same Ported From carrier to all of the new service numbers, click Yes. The specified service numbers are displayed in the bottom portion of the Duplicate Service window.

        • To select a different Ported From carrier for each new service number, click No:

          • The Port-In Service Number window is displayed for the next new service number.

          • Select the desired carrier from the drop-down list and click OK.

          • If this is the last service number being added to this order, the new service numbers are displayed in the bottom portion of the Duplicate Service window.

          • If this is not the last service number being added to this order, this process is repeated for the next service number.

        Notes:

        • If you click Cancel in the Port-In Service Number window, the displayed service number is not added to the order. The wizard continues by displaying the Port-In Service Number window for the next new service number.

        • Ported-in service numbers are immediately added to the inventory assigned to this service. You do not have to wait for the order to be submitted and completed. If the order is canceled, the ported-in service numbers remain in inventory.

  • Add more service numbers, as described above, if so desired.

  • When you are done adding services, click Next. The Add Service-Level Features window is displayed.

  • Other than the additional functions available from the Options button described in this section, the Duplicate Service Wizard functions the same for inventoried service numbers as it does for non-inventoried numbers. See the Duplicate Service Wizard for additional information.
