Choose Available Service Number

The Choose Available Service Number option is used when you want to choose the specific service number to pull from inventory. This option is available from the Service Number selector button provided in the following windows:

• New Customer Wizard and Add Service(s) & Feature(s) Wizard:

  • New Service window is displayed when you Assign an inventoried service.

  • Service Number window is displayed when you Edit an inventoried service that has been added to the current order (displayed in Orders portion of window).

  • Service Details window is displayed for an inventoried service.

• Change Service Number Wizard, when modifying the service number assigned to an inventoried service.

• Service Number window is displayed when you Edit an existing inventoried service that is assigned a temporary service number.

  This option is also available from the Options button provided in Duplicate Service window in the Duplicate Service Wizard, when duplicating an inventoried service.

  The Choose Available Service Number option is only enabled, if Application > CostGuard Client > Customer Management > Customers > Catalog Items > Choose Service Numbers is enabled in your Permission Profile.

  To choose which service number to pull from inventory:

1. Click the Service Number selector button and select Choose Available Service Number.

   • If you are assigning a service number to a non-wireless service, the following Choose Available Service Numbers window is displayed.

     

   • If you are assigning a service number to a wireless service, the following Choose Available Service Numbers window is displayed.

     

     The Choose Available Service Numbers windows provide the following input fields:

     Service Number Inventory Group (required)	Select the desired inventory group from the drop-down list (includes inventory group and inventory group type). All reserved service numbers from the selected inventory are displayed in the Reserved Service Numbers area of this window.
     MIN Inventory Group	Select/check this check box if you want to select a MIN from a different inventory group than the Service Number Inventory Group. Then select the desired MIN Inventory Group from the drop-down list. Does not apply to wireline.
     Desired Quantity	Number of service numbers to be assigned to this service. This is the Quantity specified on the Add Services window. Note This field cannot be modified if you are assigning a single service number to a service.
     Quantity Selected	Number of service numbers that are currently selected for this service. This value changes as you select and clear service numbers. Note This field cannot be modified.
     Next Available Service Numbers
     Quantity to Get	If you want to ignore the reserved service numbers, enter the number of available service numbers you want to pull from inventory. Default = value in Desired Quantity.
     In Sequence	If you want to ignore the reserved service numbers and pull sequential service numbers from inventory, check this check box. Checked: The next available service numbers that are in sequential numerical order are pulled from inventory. There are no gaps in the numbering sequence between these numbers. Unchecked: The next available service numbers are pulled from inventory, regardless of their sequence. There could be gaps in the numbering sequence between these numbers.
     Reserved Service Numbers Note All reserved service numbers in this service's inventory are displayed in this section of the Choose Available Service Number window.
     Service Number	Reserved service number.
     Inventory Group(s)	Inventory group(s) this service number belongs to.
     Expiration Date	Date and time this reservation is due to expire.

   • If you want to assign one of the reserved service numbers displayed in the Reserved Service Numbers section of this window:

     • Select the check box to the left of the desired service number.

     • Click OK. The Choose Available Service Numbers window is closed and the selected service number is displayed in the Service Number field of the requesting window.

   • If you want to assign an unreserved service number:

     • Enter the number of service numbers you would like to choose from in the Quantity to Get field.

     • If you request more than one service number and you want the service numbers to be in sequence, select the In Sequence check box.

     • Click Find.

     • The next available service numbers in inventory are displayed in the Next Available Service Numbers portion of the window.

       Note

       If you select the In Sequence check box, the next available service numbers that are in sequential numerical order are retrieved from inventory.

       • If the inventory does not have enough available service numbers to satisfy your request, one of the following error messages is displayed:

         • The system was unable to find any service numbers. Click OK to return to the Choose Available Service Numbers window.

         • The system was unable to find X service numbers in sequence. Click OK to return to the Choose Available Service Numbers window.

         • The system was only able to find X service numbers. Would you like to get these numbers? Click Yes to display these service numbers in the Next Available Service Numbers portion of the window. Click No to cancel the request and return to the Choose Available Service Numbers window.

         • The system was only able to find X service numbers in sequence. Would you like to get these numbers? Click Yes to display these service numbers in the Next Available Service Numbers portion of the window. Click No to cancel the request and return to the Choose Available Service Numbers window.

     • In the Next Available Service Numbers portion of the window, select the check box to the left of the service number you want to assign.

     • Click OK. The Choose Available Service Numbers window is closed and the selected service number is displayed in the Service Number field of the requesting window.

     • Click Cancel to close the Choose Available Service Numbers window without assigning a service number.
