Editing an Inventoried Service

You can edit an inventoried service from all windows in the New Customer Wizard and the Add Service(s) & Feature(s) Wizard that display services.

• Right-click the desired service and select Edit. The Service Number window is displayed.

  

• The Service Number window for inventoried services functions the same as the Service Number window for non-inventoried services, with the following exceptions:

  • For non-inventoried services, you modify the service number by entering the desired number directly into the Service Number field. For inventoried services, you use the selector button to the right of the Service Number field to change the service number assigned to this service.

  • If you are modifying an inventoried wireless service, the MIN field cannot be changed. If you modify the service number assigned to the service, the system automatically updates this field with the next available MIN in inventory.

    • If you are modifying an inventoried service, an Actions button is provided that enables you to modify the displayed service number and/or MIN. This Actions button only appears if one or both of the following permissions are enabled in your Permission Profile:

      • Application > CostGuard Client > Inventory Management > Service Number Inventory > Service Numbers

      • Wireless service only - Application > CostGuard Client > Inventory Management > MIN Inventory > MINs

• To change the service number assigned to an inventoried service, click the Service Number selector button:

  • If you want to assign the next available service number, select Get Available Service Number. See Get Available Service Number for additional information.

  • If you want to choose which service number to pull from inventory, select Choose Available Service Number. See Choose Available Service Number for additional information.

  • If you want to assign a service number that is not in inventory and subsequently add that service number to the inventory assigned to this service, select Add New Service Number To Inventory. See Add New Service Number To Inventory for additional information.

    Note

    The Add New Service Number To Inventory option is only provided if you are modifying a wireline service AND the "Allow Additions to Inventory" option is selected for this inventory (see Service Number Inventories) AND Application > CostGuard Client > Inventory Management > Service Number Inventory > Service Numbers > New is enabled in your Permission Profile.

  • If you want to assign a temporary service number, select Use Temporary Service Numbers. The Service Number field is populated with a temporary service number - "XXXXXXXXXX".

    Note

    The Use Temporary Service Numbers option is only provided if you are modifying a wireline service AND the service allows temporary service numbers. The Allow Temporary Service Numbers check box must be selected for this service in the Product Catalog.

  • If you want to assign a service number that is not in inventory and subsequently add that service number to the inventory as a ported-in number, select Create Ported-In Service Number. See Create Ported-In Service Number for additional information.

• If you modified the service number assigned to an inventoried wireless service, the system automatically populates the MIN with next available MIN in inventory.

• Make the desired changes to the information displayed on each of the Service Number tabs.   • The Service Number window provides an Actions button for inventoried services that enables you to perform the following functions:

    • If you want to edit the information associated with the displayed service number, click the Actions button and select Edit Inventoried Service Number. The Edit Inventoried Service Number window is displayed. See Editing an Inventoried Service Number for more information.

      Notes:

      • The Edit Inventoried Service Number option is only provided, if Application > CostGuard Client > Inventory Management > Service Number Inventory > Service Numbers > Edit is enabled in your Permission Profile. Otherwise, a View Inventoried Service Number option is provided.

      • The Edit/View Inventoried Service Number options are only enabled, if the displayed service number is actually in inventory. If the service was assigned a service number via the Add New Service Number To Inventory option described above, this option is disabled for the service until the order is submitted and the displayed service number is added to inventory.

    • If you are modifying an inventoried wireless service and you want to edit the information associated with the displayed MIN, click the Actions button and select Edit Inventoried MIN. The Edit Inventoried MIN window is displayed. See Editing an Inventoried MIN for more information.

      Notes:

      • The Edit Inventoried MIN option is only provided, if Application > CostGuard Client > Inventory Management > MIN Inventory > MINs > Edit is enabled in your Permission Profile. Otherwise, a View Inventoried MIN option is provided.

      • The Edit/View Inventoried MIN options are only enabled, if the displayed MIN is in inventory.

• Click Save to modify the service. The Service Number window is closed and the service is updated in the Orders portion of the wizard to reflect the changes you entered.

• Click Cancel to close the Service Number window without modifying the service.
