The Get Available Service Number option lets you assign the next available service number in inventory. This option is available from the Service Number selector button provided in the following windows:
New Customer Wizard and Add Service(s) & Feature(s) Wizard:
New Service window displayed when you Assign an inventoried service.
Service Number window displayed when you Edit an inventoried service that has been added to the current order (displayed in Orders portion of window).
Service Details window displayed for an inventoried service.
Change Service Number Wizard, when modifying the service number assigned to an inventoried service.
Service Number window displayed when you Edit an existing inventoried service that is assigned a temporary service number.
To assign the next available service number in inventory:
Click the Service Number selector button and select Get Available Service Number.
If there are no reservations for the service numbers in this service's inventory, the Select Inventory Group window is displayed.
From the drop-down list, select the service number inventory group from which you want to retrieve a service number.
Click OK to select a service number from the specified inventory group. This assigns the next available service number to the service, and displays the new service number in the Service Number field of the requesting window.
If reservations exist for one or more service numbers in this service's inventory, the reserved numbers are displayed in the Select Reserved Service Numbers window.
If you do not want to assign one of the reserved service numbers, click Ignore. This displays and the Select Inventory Group window.
From the drop-down list, select the service number inventory group from which you want to retrieve a service number.
Click OK to select a service number from the specified inventory group. This assigns the next available service number to the service, and displays the new service number in the Service Number field of the requesting window.
If you want to assign one of the reserved service numbers, select/check the check box to the left of the desired service number and click OK. This assigns the selected service number to the service, and displays the selected service number in the Service Number field of the requesting window.
