In order to add a new service address, the following permission must be enabled in your Permission Profile - Application > CostGuard Client > Service Address Management > New.
You can add a new service address from the Applications menu or from any of the following locations within the IDI Desktop Client:
Service Address Search Results window. Right-click anywhere in the Service Address Search Results window and select New. See Service Address Search for more information.
Customer Information window in the New Customer Wizard. Click the selector button
to the right of the Service Address input field and select Create New Address. See New Customer Wizard for more information.Add Services window in the Add Service(s) & Feature(s) Wizard. Click the selector button
to the right of the Service Address input field and select Create New Address. See Adding Services for more information.Service Address Associations window, which can be accessed from a variety of locations. Right-click anywhere in the Service Addresses section of the Service Address Associations window and select Create New Address. See Service Address Associations for more information.
Service Number window displayed when you request to edit a service. Click the Service Addresses tab, right-click anywhere in the Service Addresses tab, and select Create New Address. See Assigning/Editing a Service for more information.
Note
The content and operation of some fields in the New Service Address window depend on whether or not MSAG validation is enabled in your system. See MSAG Processing for details.
To add a new service address:
On the Applications menu, click Service Address Management > New Service Address or use one of the methods described above to display the New Service Address window.

Enter service address information as described below:
Address Status
This defaults to Pending Approval. Select a different status if appropriate - Approved, Not Approved, or Retired.
Note
Status is set to Approved upon MSAG validation if the MSAG validation and Approve Service Address settings are enabled in the Config Console.
Street Number - Prefix / Number / Suffix
Enter the street number for the service address:
Field #1 - If the street number has a prefix, enter it in this field. Otherwise leave this field empty. A maximum of 5 characters is allowed.
Field #2 - Enter the house/building number. This field is required and it must be a numeric entry. A maximum of 8 numbers is allowed.
Field #3 - If the street number has a suffix, enter it in this field. Otherwise leave this field empty. A maximum of 5 characters is allowed.
Street Name
Direction Prefix
If the street name has a directional prefix (for example, N, S, E, W or NE), select the directional prefix from the drop-down list.
Name
Enter the street name - up to 50 characters.
Thoroughfare
If the street name has a thoroughfare (for example, Road, Drive or Lane), select the thoroughfare from the drop-down list.
Direction Suffix
If the street name has a directional suffix (for example, N, S, E, W or NE), select the directional suffix from the drop-down list.
Location
If the new service address requires additional information related to elevations, structures, and units (for example, Building, Floor, or Apartment), select the applicable designator(s) from the drop-down lists provided in this section.

Designator 3If one of the Designator (1, 2 or 3) drop-down lists is applicable to the new service address, select the designator and enter its value in the corresponding input field at the right.
For example - A new service address includes Building #3. Select "Building" from the Designator 1 drop-down list and enter "3" in the input field to the right of the Designator 1 field.
You may enter up to 10 characters for each designator.
Other
City / State / Zip
Enter the city, state, and zip code:
Field #1 - Enter the city. A maximum of 30 characters is allowed.
Field #2 - Enter the 2-character state.
Field #3 - Enter the 5-digit or 9-digit zip code. Include the hyphen when entering a 9-digit zip code (format - XXXXX-XXXX).
Fields #1 (city) and #2 (state) are required.
If you validate your service addresses against the MSAG table, when you exit the City field, the system automatically populates the MSAG Community and 911 County fields with the data defined in the MSAG table for the specified city. You may need to change these entries manually as described below if the MSAG table entries for MSAG Community and/or 911 County are not a close match to the city name.
Wire Center
Select wire center from the drop-down list.
Rate Center
Select rate center from the drop-down list.
MSAG Community
This field is required if you validate your service addresses against the MSAG table. Use the drop-down list to change the entry from the MSAG table if the MSAG table entry is not a close match to the city name.
911 County
This field is required if you validate your service addresses against the MSAG table. Use the drop-down list to change the entry from the MSAG table if the MSAG table entry is not a close match to the city name.
Loop Length (kft)
Enter the length of the telephone wire from the Wire Center to the new service address and from the new service address back to the Wire Center.
Notes:
Enter this value in thousands of feet (kft). For example, if the loop length to and from the new service address is 10,000 feet, enter 10 in this field.
This field supports up to 6 decimal points. Enter a numeric value from 0 - 999,999,999.999999. If you enter a non-decimal value, it is converted to a decimal value when you click Save or Apply. Example - if you enter 50, click Apply, 50 is converted to 50.000000.
MSAG Validated Date
This field only applies if you validate your service addresses against the MSAG table. If you do:
New Service Address window - this field is empty.
Edit Service Address window - this field contains the date the service address was successfully validated against the MSAG table. If the validation failed, this field is empty.
MSAG Provider
Name of the Master Street Address Guide (MSAG) Provider. MSAG providers supply the MSAG used to validate service addresses for emergency 9-1-1 service.
Select the appropriate MSAG Provider from the list.
Notes
Enter any additional information that is relevant to the new service address that cannot be entered into any of the other input fields.
Click Save or Apply to save your entries. Save closes the New Service Address window. Apply replaces the New Service Address window with an Edit Service Address window. This window provides the same configurable fields as described above, and all fields are populated with the data entered during the current add/edit service session.
