If you have a service address that is no longer valid, such as a building was torn down or someone requested service for a location that does not exist, you can retire that address. This changes the status accordingly to let users know it should not be assigned to another customer/service.
Note
The system does not prevent you from reassigning. The status change is for information purposes only. In order to retire an existing service address, the following permission must be enabled in your Permission Profile - Application > CostGuard Client > Service Address Management > Edit.
You can only retire an existing service address from the Service Address Search Results window displayed as the result of a Service Address Search (see Service Address Search for more information).
To retire an existing service address:
Perform a Service Address Search to retrieve the service address you want to retire.
Within the Service Address Search Results window, right-click on the desired service address and select Retire Address.
If the selected service address is not currently assigned to a customer/service, a confirmation window is displayed.
Click No to cancel the retirement and return to the Service Address Search Results window.
OR
Click Yes to retire the service address. The service address is marked as retired and the confirmation window is closed. The service address' Status is changed to "Retired" in the Service Address Search Results window.
Note
You can take a service address out of retirement by assigning a different status to that address (Edit Service Address and select a Status other than "Retired").
If the selected service address is currently assigned to a customer/service, an error message is displayed:
Click OK to return to the Service Address Search Results window. The service address cannot be retired as long as a customer/service is associated with that service address.
