System-Defined Tiered Rating Methods

Prev Next

The system calculates four types of tiered rating. One using the Minutes rating method, one using Occurrences, one using Total Occurrences, and one using Total Count.

  • Minutes rating method: Usage in each tier is rated individually. When one tier is full, any additional minutes are rated at the next tier level. (Used for seconds-based usage types only)

  • Occurrences rating: Usage in each tier is rated individually. When one tier is full, any additional minutes are rated at the next tier level. (Used for occurrence-based usage types only)

  • Total Occurrences rating: Usage is totaled just before billing and that total determines which tiered rate is used for all usage. (Used for occurrence-based usage types only)

  • Total Count rating: Usage records are counted just before billing and that count determines which tiered rate is used for all usage. (Can be used for all three usage types: seconds-based, occurrence-based, and percentage-based.)

Tiered rating only occurs during re-rating. The system knows when calls that need to be re-rated have been loaded and re-rates before billing, if necessary.
