Use the following setup as a simple example of these rating methods.
Calling Areas:
CA (includes the state of California)
NY (includes the state of New York)
PA (includes the state of Pennsylvania)
Rate Plan Details (in the pricing plan assigned to the customer):
Area rating method (call originates in CA, terminates in PA) at $0.08 per minute
Term Area rating method (call terminates in NY or PA) at $0.07 per minute
Orig Area rating method (call originates in NY or PA) at $0.06 per minute
If a call is made from CA to PA, it is rated at $0.08 per minute using the Area rating method.
If a call is made from CA to NY, it is rated at $0.07 per minute using the Term Area rating method.
If a call is made from NY to CA, it is rated at $0.06 per minute using the Orig Area rating method.
If a call is made from CA to CA, it is recycled (no rating method).
If a call is made from NY to NY, it is rated at $0.07 per minute using the Term Area rating method (the Term Area rating method precedes the Orig Area rating method in the hunting sequence).
