This section describes how to add features and services to a customer account. The services and features are configured in the Product Catalog as described in Products and Rates.
Features can be added at the customer level or service level (assigning a feature to a specific service number). Account Code and Calling Group features must be added at the customer level when applicable. Other features may be added at the customer level, or be added at the service level when they are to be applied to specific service numbers in the customer’s account.
There are four different wizards that you can use to add services and features:
The Add Service(s) & Feature(s) Wizard lets you add customer-level features, services, and service-level features in one order. This wizard is accessible from the Account menu or the Customer window toolbar.
The Add Service(s) Wizard lets you add services only. This wizard is accessible from the Services list on the Services tab.
The Add Feature(s) Wizard (Service Level) lets you add service-level features. This wizard is accessible from the Services tab.
The Add Feature(s) Wizard (Customer-level) lets you add customer-level features. This wizard is accessible from the Features tab.
These wizards provide search and browse capabilities for locating the services and features you want to add. Only active services, features, products, packages, pricing plans, contracts, and product folders are displayed in the Browse window. (Active means not having a Discontinue Date that occurred in the past.)
All windows in these wizards have an Actions button that provides quick access to functions related to adding services and features.
Guided Assignments
If you choose to add catalog items using a guided assignment order type, the wizard will ensure that you enter the correct types and quantities of service-level features as specified by the guided assignment. Guided assignments are configured in the Product Catalog. To have guided assignment order types available for selection in the Order Type drop-down list, they must be added via the Data Management section of the Admin Console. Guidelines for using guided assignments are provided in the section on Guided Assignments in Product Management.
Configuring or Bypassing Service/Feature Detail Dialogs
When you add a new feature or service to an order, you can use either the Assign method or Fast Assign method.
Fast Assigning adds the item directly to the order without having to configure details through intermediate windows. You can use this option if the item's defaults (as configured in the Product Catalog) are acceptable, or if you want to defer configuring details till later. If you choose to Fast Assign an item, you can configure the details later in the order wizard, or outside the order wizard using the Edit item function.
Assigning takes you through additional windows to let you edit the item's details. These windows are similar to the windows originally used to configure the item in the Product Catalog.
Details for using Fast Assign and Assign are provided later in this section.
