Identifying the Customer

If your system is set up to track customer information, you need to identify the type of customer each time they make a purchase.

Bill To Same as Sold To

This is automatically checked, so it is correct for a typical residential customer. Uncheck it if the Bill To address and Sold To address are different, then enter the Bill To information.

Type

The customer type can be Residential or several other business types. Other types may allow customers to receive accounts receivable privileges and certain access privileges. Some of the business types provide reporting information for tax exemptions.

Account Number

This is an informational field for accounts receivable customers.

Account Receivable

This is an informational field for accounts receivable customers.

Approval

Do not add any information to this field. It is used during a credit approval process.

Term

Select the payment terms (Due on Receipt, Net 10, Net 30, and so on).

  1. Select Detail

    In this field …

    Do this…

    Company

    Type the Company Name of the customer.

    Work #

    Type the work telephone number of the customer.

    Ext

    Type the extension of the customer's work telephone number.

    Fax

    Type the customer's fax number.

    Contact

    Type the name of the company contact person.

    Discount

    Press Down Arrow to select a new discount rate for all the customer's purchases.

  2. Select the Tax Exemption

  3. Select the Checkbox for the appropriate Tax Type that is to be exempted. Enter the Exempt ID in the Column next to it. (Select the Column with the Mouse).

  4. Select Other

  5. Enter the Social Security Number and Birthday.

  6. Enter the Driver's License number, state and country.

  7. Select the Additional

  8. Press Next and continue to Select Products for Purchase.

You can recall customer data by entering the following criteria:

  • Service Number

  • Account Number

  • Customer Name

  • Billing Contact Name

  • Social Sec. Number (Last 4)

  • Driver's License (Last 4)

  • Driver's License State

Working with New customers

To make a sale:

  1. Login to the system.

  2. From the Application menu, select POS Front Office > Make Sale. This displays the customer search window.

  3. Enter the Customer information and click Search. (More)

    Note

    If an existing customer is found, the information is displayed. (More)

    Select  to perform a quick sale.

    Proceed As Quick Sale

    Quick Sale is a exchange of physical inventory or a POS service in exchange for tender.

  4. Select Create New Customer.

  5. Enter the appropriate Customer Information. (More)

  6. Click Next. This displays the Retail Discount window.

  7. Click Next. This displays the Credit Check window. See Performing a Credit Check for additional information.

  8. At this point, you may choose to skip the credit check or not. See  for additional information.
