Device Management

Device File Management tools in the IDI Desktop Client are available via Applications > BackOffice Management > Device Management.

Through these menu items and the dialogs they display you can:

• Search devices configured in your system.

• View a history of actions taken on one or more devices.

• Manually add a new device (one-at-a-time).

• Edit existing devices.

• Disassociate a device with its current service to make it available for use on another service.

• Create new devices in bulk via file upload.

• Create new devices in bulk by uploading a Samsung Manifest file.

• Manage device statuses – add/delete/edit/set as default.

  These functions are permission-based.

  You’ll need to enable the applicable permissions in users’ Permission Profiles (Admin Console > Security) to provide access to certain Device Management functions.

  The path is:

  Applications > CostGuard Client > Device Management

  Most of the permissions under Devices are related to viewing/editing a device field (e.g. Software Version). Disabling the field name prevents the user from viewing and editing the field. The field will be hidden on all applicable views (New Device, Device Search and Search Results). Leaving the field name enabled and disabling just the corresponding Edit permission lets users see the field but not edit the value.

  There are also permissions for adding/editing/disassociating devices, and Device File and Samsung Manifest file uploads.

  A separate branch provides permissions for managing Device Statuses.

Bulk Data - Device Import

You can also create and modify device records using the Bulk Import tool. For details on using the Device Import specification, refer to the knowledge article here.
