Bulk Editing Inventoried Service Numbers

The IDI solutioin lets you bulk edit inventoried service numbers that are displayed in the Service Number Search Results window. In order to do this, Application > CostGuard Client > Inventory Management > Service Number Inventory > Service Numbers > Bulk Edit must be enabled in your Permission Profile.

To bulk edit inventoried service numbers:

  1. In the Service Number Search Results window, filter out all service numbers that you do not want to modify. The bulk edit function modifies all service numbers that are displayed in the Service Number Search Results window at the time of your request.

  2. Click the Actions button and select Bulk Edit Service Numbers. This displays the Bulk Edit Inventoried Service Numbers window.

  3. Edit the Bulk Edit Inventoried Service Numbers information as described below. To edit a field, first check the Overwrite check box to the left of that field.

    Inventory Status

    Select the desired inventory status from the drop-down list.

    Default = Administrative.

    NRUF Category

    This field only applies to those service numbers that belong to a block.

    • If the Inventory Status is Administrative, this field is set to Administrative.

    • If the Inventory Status is Available, this field is set to Available.

    • If the Inventory Status is Intermediate, this field is set to Intermediate.

    • If the Inventory Status is Not Available, this field is set to Do Not Report.

      Note

      This field cannot be changed.

    NRUF Sub-Category

    This field only applies to those service numbers that belong to a block.

    Select the desired NRUF sub-category from the drop-down list.

    Available Date

    You can only modify the Available Date, if you do not change the Inventory Status or you change the Inventory Status to Not Available.

    Default = current date.

    Is Ported-In Number

    This field only applies to those service numbers that do not belong to a block.

    Select this check box if the service numbers being updated are owned by another carrier.

    Ported To

    If the service numbers being updated were given to another carrier, select that carrier from the drop-down list.

    Ported From

    If the service numbers being updated are owned by another carrier, select that carrier from the drop-down list.

    This field only applies to those service numbers that are Ported-In numbers.

    Notes

    Enter any additional information and/or comments regarding the service numbers being updated.

    Inventory Groups

    Select the appropriate action:

    • Select Append to add the displayed service numbers to one or more additional inventory groups.

    • Select Overwrite to change the inventory group assigned to the displayed service numbers.

    • Select Delete to remove the displayed service numbers from an inventory group.

      After you select the desired radio button, right-click in the Inventory Groups pane and select Select Groups. The Select Inventory Groups window is displayed. See Selecting an Inventory Group for more information.

  4. Click Save. This displays a confirmation window that indicates the number of inventoried service numbers that were successfully updated.

    The bulk edit changes must comply with the edit checks defined for adding, modifying, and retiring service numbers. See Add Additional Service Numbers Wizard, Editing an Inventoried Service Number, and Retiring an Inventoried Service Number for additional information.

  5. Click OK. This updates the Service Number Search Results window with the changes you just made.

    If the bulk edit encounters an error with one or more service numbers:

    • It skips the service number in error and continues updating the other service numbers.

    • When the bulk edit completes, an error message is displayed that indicates the number of inventoried service numbers that were successfully updated and the number that failed.

    • Click OK to view the errors that occurred. This displays the Bulk Edit Errors window.

      The Bulk Edit Errors window provides the following information for each service number that failed the bulk edit:

      Inventory

      Name of the inventory the failed service number belongs to.

      Service Number

      Failed service number.

      Error

      Brief description of the error that occurred.

The bottom of the Bulk Edit Errors window displays the complete error message that is associated with the service number selected in the top portion of the Bulk Edit Errors window.

  • Close this window to return to the Service Number Search Results window, which is updated to reflect the successful changes that were made.
