Assigning/Editing a Service - Main Tab

The Main tab is used to enter basic service number information.

The Main tab provides the following input fields:

Service Number

Enter the desired service number. If the service number is unknown, you can use a temporary number to complete the order. The system automatically enters ten X's - XXXXXXXXXX.

A maximum of 30 alphanumeric characters is allowed.

Note

Temporary service numbers are only allowed for those services that have this feature enabled in the Product Catalog.

Note

You must have the appropriate  to change an in-process Service Number (not Completed or Cancelled) without issuing a Change Service Number order.

Catalog Item permission

Enabled: Lets you change a service number (that has a real value) in the Edit Service window, even if the associated order is "in-process" (that is, the order does not have a status of Completed or Cancelled).

Disabled: You must use a "Change Service Number" order to modify the service number of an "in-process" order.

Notes:

  • Temporary service numbers ("XXXXXXXXXX") are not affected by this permission. They can be changed on the order.

  • If there are any line items for the service that are On Hold or Incomplete, you cannot modify the service number. This applies to both temporary service numbers and actual service numbers.

This permission-based functionality does not apply to temporary services numbers.

Note

If there are any line items for the service in an On Hold or Incomplete status, you cannot edit the service number. You must resume the order and modify the service from within the order or cancel that order. This applies whether the permission is enabled or not.

Ring To # (DPN)
(Toll Free only)

For toll free numbers, enter the associated "Ring To" service number.

Billing Number (Wireline only)

Billing number assigned to this service number.

Department

Select the Department that is assigned to this service number from the drop-down list, if applicable.

To add or modify a department, see Adding and Modifying Departments.

Rate Center

Rate center the system assigned to this service number.

This field is blank and cannot be modified. Once you enter the service number and click out of the field, the system derives the rate center from the service number's NPANXX and assigns that rate center to this service number.

Zone

Zone associated with this service number.

Click the ellipsis button to select a Zone.

Region

Select the Region associated with this service number from the drop-down list.

Is Port In

Check this box if the customer is porting in an existing service number from another carrier. Checking this box opens the Port-In Service Number window where you can enter the required information.

Is Port Out

Check this box if the service number has been ported out to another carrier. Checking this box prevents the service from being reconnected.

Billing Status

Select the appropriate Billing Status from the drop-down list - Billing or Not Billing.

Defaults to value in Product Catalog, if any.

Effective Date

Enter the date and time the service is scheduled to start. You can select a date, using the drop-down calendar or over-typing. Change the time by over-typing.

Default is the current date and time.

Disconnect Date

Enter the date and time the service is scheduled to be disconnected, if applicable. You can select a date, using the drop-down calendar or over-typing. Change the time by over-typing.

Note

The Disconnect Date must occur at least one minute after the Effective Date/time.

Reason For Leaving

Reason for disconnecting the service. This field does not apply when you are adding or editing a service.

Suspend Date

Date the service wa suspended. This field does not apply when you are adding or editing a service.

Suspend Reason

Reason the service was suspended. This field does not apply when you are adding or editing a service.

Service classification (for example, local, long distance, or both). Defaults to value in Product Catalog, if any. To add a class of service:

  • Click the Class of Service link. The Override Class Of Service window is displayed.

  • Select the Class Of Service from the drop-down list.

  • Click Apply to add the selected Class Of Service to this service number.

  • Click Reset to clear the Class Of Service.

    Note

    In order to modify this field, the Override Class Of Service permission must be enabled in your Permission Profile.

imary Service

Designates this service as the primary service. For wireless, this lets your company send text messages to one number on the account, rather than to all numbers.

Caller Name

Caller name to be displayed on the terminating end of the call. For wireless services: if your company has a WCNAM provider, this is the value exported to the provider.

Name

Enter the desired service name for this service.

This is the field that is searched when a user requests a Customer Search and selects Service Name as the Search Field. See Finding a Specific Individual Customer in the Accessing Customer Management Records section.
