To complete a return using customer information:
Find and open the customer account using the Customer Search.
Click the Orders tab.
Select the Order in the Orders list (upper pane), then click he Retail tab in the lower pane.
Select the transaction detail for the item being returned.

In the upper pane, select the transaction that includes the item being returned. This displays the transaction details in the lower pane.
In the lower pane, select the item to be returned.

Following confirmation:
For inventoried items - the Make Sale window is opened in background and the Item Detail - Return window is opened in foreground (active).
For non-inventoried items - the Make Sale window is opened in foreground (the Item Detail - Return window is only opened for non-inventoried items when the original sale transaction is not in the system's transaction history, for example, following an upgrade and database conversion).
Note
The No Sale window for register management may be displayed at this point if a register transaction is required as specified in the register policy (for example skim cash or add cash). If this occurs you can either perform the required register transaction immediately, or click Cancel to postpone till later.
If you choose to postpone, it is recommended that you complete the requested register transaction as soon as possible. You will continue to be prompted at each subsequent transaction until you complete the required register adjustment.
In the Item Detail - Return window, review the return transaction details and specify the Inventory Status.

The Item Detail - Return window is displayed during a return transaction for an inventoried item. The details provided vary according to the type of item, for example for serialized items this window shows the serial number of the item being returned.
For inventoried items this window lets you adjust the inventory status if necessary:
The Inventory Status defaults to New. With the appropriate permission, you can change the status if necessary, for example to Defective, Used, Demo, and so on.

Click OK when you are done. This adds a row for this return transaction in the Make Sale window.

Complete the return (Complete Sale) and tender the amount to be returned.

Click Tender. This displays the Tender window.
Select the tender type, then click Finalize.

The tender type buttons are re-enabled once the tender entry is removed.
Select a different Tender Type.
Click Yes to confirm the tender transaction.
Click OK to acknowledge the order was submitted.
Tender the amount indicated in the Tender Amount message box, then click Done to dismiss the message box.
