Assigning Work Plan Templates to Service Type

When you assign Work Plan Templates to a type of Service, you are supplying a list of suggested Work Plans for the individual who is assigning the service to a customer. Work Plans constitute the steps needed to complete an order for a service number. Each Work Plan that is associated with a Service Type/Order Type combination is presented to the individual creating the Order. That person can choose to accept one of the suggested Work Plans or to select a different Work Plan from a list of all Work Plan Templates.

To associate a Work Plan Template with a Service Type:

From the Applications menu, select Product Management > Product Catalog.
Open the various folders until the list of Service Types is displayed.

Right-click on the Service Type and select Work Plans. This displays the Select Work Plans window.

The Select Work Plans for service type window contains the following information.

Order Type	Lists all of the Order Types in the system.
Work Plans	Lists the Work Plan Templates associated with the Order Type.
Auto Merge	If checked, when the Order is submitted, the system merges Order Line Items together under one Work Plan. The Order Line Items must be in the same Order and have the same Work Plan Template assigned. The Tasks within the Work Plan are completed for each Order Line Item at the same time. Note This option applies only if the Order Type has one and only one Work Plan associated with it. If unchecked, Order Line Items assigned the same Work Plan Template, have separate Work Plans that must be completed individually.
Auto Run	If checked, when the Order is submitted, the first Task in the Work Plan is started immediately (its status is changed to "In Progress"), without manual intervention. Note This option applies only if the Order Type has one and only one Work Plan associated with it. If unchecked, an individual must start the Work Plan manually.

The shortcut menu from the list of Order Types includes the following options.

Plans	Opens the Add Work Plans to Service type for Order Type window.
Remove Plans	Deletes the current Work Plans associated with the Order Type.

The Order Line Items must be in the same Order and have the same Work Plan Template assigned. The Tasks within the Work Plan are completed for each Order Line Item at the same time. Note This option applies only if the Order Type has one and only one Work Plan associated with it. If unchecked, Order Line Items assigned the same Work Plan Template, have separate Work Plans that must be completed individually.

Right-click on the Order Type and select Plans. This displays the Add Work Plan to Service type for Order Type window. Only Work Plans including the Order Line Item category and/or the Any category are available for assignment.
Check each Work Plan Template that you want associated with the selected Order Type.
Select Auto Merge if you want all Order Line Items within one Order worked under the same Work Plan. When the Order is submitted, the system merges those Order Line Items (having the same Work Plan Template) together under one Work Plan.
Select Auto Run if you want all the Work Plans to commence upon Order submission.
Click OK to add the selected Work Plan(s) to the selected Order Type and return to the Select Work Plans for service type window. The Work Plan(s) are now listed with the Order Type.
Close the Select Work Plans window to return to the Product Catalog lists.
