E911 and MSAG Setup

There are steps to be completed by IDI and additional steps to be completed by carriers.

Pre-Implementation Recommendations

Carriers need to:

• Compile a list of the applicable E911 providers and the file formats they use.

• Compile a list of MSAG providers – It is recommended that sample files be submitted to IDI for each provider to determine whether the file format is supported, or whether adaptive work will be needed to support the file format.

Setup by IDI:

• Config Console Setup:

  • Enable MSAG validation.

  • Specify whether or not to automatically approve address status upon MSAG validation.

  • Configure E911 Events

• Admin Console Business Rules:

  • E911 Company ID and Name. This information comes from the PSAPs and is used in the E911 update file generation process.

  • Default MSAG Provider. This is optional. The default is used in the MSAG file import if done without the aid of the BackOffice GUI. (i.e. manually dropping a file into the designated import folder).

Set up by Carriers:

• Create Service Addresses for your service area

• Admin Console Permission Profiles

• Data Management

• Service Type Configuration
