Working with Retail Products - Warranties Tab

Note

Before warranties can be assigned to a serialized Retail Product, they must be created in Product Management. See Adding/Editing a Warranty for descriptions of the columns.

If you are supplying a Warranty when you sell a serialized retail product, the warranty must be assigned to that product before it is sold. Each inventory status can have a warranty specified.

Multiple Warranties are assigned to a serialized Retail Product following these rules:

  • Only serialized Retail Products can have warranties assigned.

  • Serialized Retail Products designated as a Rental cannot have warranties and the Warranties tab is not displayed.

  • Serialized Retail Products designated as a Loaner cannot have warranties and the Warranties tab is not displayed.

  • A serialized Retail Product does not require a warranty.

  • A warranty is assigned to the retail product based on inventory status.

  • A warranty is not required for each inventory status.

  • Inventory status/warranty combinations are assigned to a serialized Retail Product.

  • An inventory status can have only one warranty associated with it.

  • A warranty can be associated with multiple inventory statuses.

For example, the SAM142 handset with an inventory status of New may have a 90-day warranty, while the SAM142 handset with an inventory status of Used may have a 30-day warranty. In this case, the MOT100 handset has two warranties assigned to it.

To assign a warranty to a serialized Retail Product:

Click the Warranties tab. You may need to click the left or right arrow to see the tab. Left Right Arrows

  • Right-click in the list and select Assign Warranty. This displays the following form:.

  • Select the Inventory Status from the drop-down list.

  • Select (highlight) the warranty you want to associate with that status.

  • Click OK.

  • Repeat for each Inventory Status that needs a warranty.

    Note

Once a warranty has been associated with an Inventory Status, that Inventory Status is no longer displayed in the drop-down list. If you need to change the warranty for an Inventory Status, you must remove the row displaying that Status/Warranty combination and assign the desired warranty following the steps above. See Removing a Status/Warranty Combination from a Retail Product.
