Set up one or more rate plans using the Area rating method. See Adding/Editing Rates to create a new rate plan.
See Adding/Editing Rate Details to add the rate details. To set up rate details specifically using the Area rating method:
Open the Rate Plan (Applications > Product Management > Rates, right-click the Rate Plan name and select View Rate Details).
Right-click in the table and select New. The Rate Details window is displayed.
Select the appropriate Distance Type from the drop-down.
Select the Area rating method.
Enter valid originating and terminating Calling Area combinations. Calling areas as set up in the Calling Areas table. The proper format is the name of the Calling Area for the originating area followed by a comma and followed by the name of the Calling Area for the terminating area. Do not use spaces. Entries must be entered as set up in the Calling Areas table, except they are not case-sensitive. Example: Rochester,Buffalo.

Continue setting up the rate details as described in Adding/Editing Rate Details, using as many rate details using Calling Area combinations as needed.
Click Save.
