Requesting and Viewing a TransUnion Credit Report

Submitting a Request

The TransUnion Credit Report Request window provides the following input fields:

Personal Information

First Name

Enter the first name of the person for whom you are requesting a credit report.

Note

If you use the Customer window to request a credit report, this field is automatically populated with information from that customer's account.

Last Name

Enter the last name of the person for whom you are requesting a credit report.

Note

If you use the Customer window to request a credit report, this field is automatically populated with information from that customer's account.

Middle Name

Enter the middle name of the person for whom you are requesting a credit report.

Prefix

Enter the name prefix of the person for whom you are requesting a credit report (e.g., Dr., Sir, General, etc.).

Suffix

Enter the name suffix of the person for whom you are requesting a credit report (e.g., Jr., Sr., II, III, etc.)

SSN

Enter the 9-digit social security number of the person for whom you are requesting a credit report.

Note

If you use the Customer window to request a credit report, this field is automatically populated with information from that customer's account.

Date of Birth

Enter the birth date of the person for whom you are requesting a credit report.

Gender

Select the gender of the person for whom you are requesting a credit report from the drop-down list.

Telephone #

Enter the telephone number of the person for whom you are requesting a credit report.

Note

If you use the Customer window to request a credit report, this field is automatically populated with information from that customer's account.

Access PIN

Enter the PIN provided by the person for whom you are requesting a credit report.

Note

If a person blocks on-line access to his/her credit information, they must provide you with their PIN in order for you to obtain a credit report for them.

Address Information

Note

If you use the Customer window to request a TransUnion Credit Report AND entered a parsed address was entered for the customer's Primary Contact (see Adding a New Customer in the IDI Desktop Client User Reference Guide), these fields are automatically populated with the information provided in the parsed address. Otherwise, these fields are blank.

House Number

Enter the person's house/street number.

Directional Prefix

Select the person's street prefix (e.g., North, South, East, West, etc.) from the drop-down list.

Street Name

Enter the person's street name.

Directional Suffix

Select the person's street suffix (e.g., North, South, East, West, etc.) from the drop-down list.

Street Type

Select the person's street type (e.g., Street, Road, Lane, Parkway, etc.) from the drop-down list.

Apartment #

Enter the person's apartment number, if applicable.

City / State / Zip

Enter the person's city, state, and zip code.

Months in Residence

Enter the number of months the person has lived at the current address.

Residential Status

Select the person's residential status (Unknown, Own, Rent, or Other) from the drop-down list.

Viewing the Result

The TransUnion Credit Report window displays the following information:

Report Information

Credit Report ID

Unique ID assigned to this credit report by the system.

Report Status

Status of the credit report:

  • No Response Received

  • Response Received

  • Request Rejected

  • No Match Found

Request Date

Date the credit report was requested.

User Name

User name of the person that requested the credit report.

Credit Result

User-defined status.

Credit Class

Credit Class assigned to this customer, based upon the Score returned in this credit report.

Status Message

User-defined status.

Request Information

First Name

First Name specified in credit report request.

Last Name

Last Name specified in credit report request.

Middle Name

Middle Name specified in credit report request.

SSN

SSN specified in credit report request.

Date of Birth

Date of Birth specified in credit report request.

Gender

Gender specified in credit report request.

House Number

House Number specified in credit report request.

Direction

Directional Prefix specified in credit report request.

Street Name

Street Name specified in credit report request.

Street Type

Street Type specified in credit report request.

City

City specified in credit report request.

State

State specified in credit report request.

Zip

Zip specified in credit report request.

Apartment Num.

Apartment # specified in credit report request.

Score Details

Score

Credit score returned by TransUnion.

Score Range

Score range associated with the model (Service Code) used by TransUnion for the credit report.

  • FICO Classic '98 model range: 336-843

  • FICO Classic '04 model range: 309-839

  • TransUnion Wireless 1.0 model range: 037-823

  • TransUnion Telecom model range: 039-726

Consumer Statements

Information/comments a person adds to his/her credit information in the TransUnion system. If a consumer statement is returned in the credit report, a "See Details" link is displayed in this field.

  • Click the "See Details" link to view the person's comments/statements. A scrollable message text box is displayed.

  • Click WindowsCloseButton to close the Scrollable Message window and return to the TransUnion Credit Report.

HAWK Messages

HAWK messages returned by TransUnion. Indicates the likelihood of fraudulent data in the credit report. If a HAWK message is returned in the credit report, a "See Details" link is displayed in this field.

  • Click the "See Details" link to view the HAWK message(s). A scrollable message text box is displayed.

  • Click WindowsCloseButton to close the Scrollable Message window and return to the TransUnion Credit Report.

    Refer to your TransUnion documentation for the specific HAWK messages that can be returned.

Error Messages

Messages returned by TransUnion, regarding any processing errors that occurred with the request. If an error message is returned in the credit report, a "See Details" link is displayed in this field.

  • Click the "See Details" link to view the error message(s). A scrollable message text box is displayed.

  1. Click WindowsCloseButton to close the Scrollable Message window and return to the TransUnion Credit Report.

    Refer to your TransUnion documentation for the specific error messages that can be returned.

File Hit Message

TransUnion's comments regarding how well the credit report response matches the credit report request.

Refer to your TransUnion documentation for the specific File Hit messages that can be returned.

OFAC Status

OFAC Message

These fields is applicable if you use Transunion’s OFAC Name Screen optional add-on report (6800). OFAC is an office in the US Department of the Treasury that administers and enforces economic and trade sanctions against offending entities. The OFAC screen name alert returns an OFAC notification on a subscriber’s credit report when their name matches a name on the U.S Department of Treasury’s Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list.

Note

The OFAC Status field shows the OFAC Code. You can display the full response by clicking OFAC Message See Details link.

Response Information

First Name

First Name on file in TransUnion system.

Last Name

Last Name on file in TransUnion system.

Middle Name

Middle Name on file in TransUnion system.

SSN

Social security number on file in TransUnion system.

Note

If View SSN is not enabled in your Permission Profile (under Security > Profiles > Permission Profiles > Application > CostGuard Client > Credit Scoring), the first 5 digits of social security number are replaced with asterisks (only the last 4 digits are displayed).

Date of Birth

Date of Birth on file in TransUnion system.

Gender

Gender on file in TransUnion system.

House Number

House Number on file in TransUnion system.

Direction

Directional Prefix on file in TransUnion system.

Street Name

Street Name on file in TransUnion system.

Street Type

Street Type on file in TransUnion system.

City

City on file in TransUnion system.

State

State on file in TransUnion system.

Zip

Zip on file in TransUnion system.

Apartment Num.

Apartment number on file in TransUnion system.

Telephone Num.

Telephone number on file in TransUnion system.

Score Factor 1

Code indicating how the credit score was determined.

Score Factor 2

Code indicating how the credit score was determined.

Score Factor 3

Code indicating how the credit score was determined.

Score Factor 4

Code indicating how the credit score was determined.

Score Derog. & Inquiry Alert

Code indicating either or both:

  • Derogatory information was found in the consumer file.

  • Number of inquiries impacted the credit score.

  1. To exit the TransUnion Credit Report window, click Close.

  2. To resubmit the credit report request, click the Actions button provided in the bottom left-hand corner of the window and select Re-Submit. The New TransUnion Credit Report Request window (described above) is displayed. The input fields are populated with the information entered for the initial credit report request. Edit this information as desired and click Submit to transmit the credit report request to the TransUnion system. Upon receipt of a response from the TransUnion system, the system displays the resulting report in the TransUnion Credit Report window (described above).

  3. To view the detailed information received for this credit report, click the Actions button provided in the bottom left-hand corner of the window and select View Details. All information that was returned in TransUnion's response is displayed in the Credit Report # Details window. The title bar includes the Credit Report ID assigned to this credit report. Use the scroll bar on the right side of the window to view the full report. Refer to your TransUnion documentation for information regarding the contents of this detailed credit report.

    Note

    View Detail must be enabled in your Permission Profile (under Security > Profiles > Permission Profiles > Application > CostGuard Client > Credit Scoring). If not, the View Details option is not provided in the Actions submenu.

Multiple Responses/Hits

In the event the credit report request results in multiple responses/hits, the responses are displayed in the Preliminary Results window.

From the Preliminary Results window, you can:

  • Select one of the displayed responses as the requested credit report, by right-clicking on the desired response and selecting Select Record. The system displays the selected credit report in the TransUnion Credit Report window (described above). From this window, you can resubmit your credit report request or view the detailed information received for this credit report, as described above.

  • View the detailed information received for one of the displayed responses, by right-clicking on the desired response and selecting View Details. All information that was returned in TransUnion's response is displayed in the Credit Report # Details window (described above). The title bar includes the Credit Report ID assigned to this credit report. Use the scroll bar on the right side of the window to view the full report. Refer to your TransUnion documentation for information regarding the contents of this detailed credit report.

    Note

    View Detail must be enabled in your Permission Profile (under Security > Profiles > Permission Profiles > Application > CostGuard Client > Credit Scoring). If not, the View Details option is not provided in the submenu that is displayed when you right-click a response.
