The IDI platform can automatically disconnect a package when the package contains a product belonging to the same exclusive group as the new product being added.
This includes orders entered via POS Make Sale, the Change Feature wizard in Customer Management, and the SDK.
Example: Swapping a package that contains voicemail and other voice services for an "a la carte" voicemail.
A subscriber has a bundled package that contains voice services and voicemail (Product A in Exclusive Group Z) . They want to discontinue the package (Z), but keep their voicemail (A).
The CSR enters an order to add voicemail (Product B) to Exclusive Group Z. The Effective Date of Product B is configured in the Product Catalog as Back Date.
The order results in the original package (with Product A) being disconnected effective at the end of the previous bill period and Product B being activated effective at the start of the current bill period.
Note
The customer is able to keep their saved voicemail from Product A.
Validation
When a product is added to a service and the service already has a package containing a product with the same exclusive group as a product being added, that package is disconnected.
The disconnect date for any product or package being disconnected is driven by the new product’s effective date.
When multiple products with different effective dates replace products within the same package, the new product with the earliest effective date takes precedence and the earliest effective date applies.
Necessary Configuration
A business rule (Include Package Children in Exclusive Group Logic) must be configured in Admin Console by IDI in order for validation to be activated for package-level exclusive group validation. (By default this rule is disabled.)
This configuration also allows users to view a list of exclusivity relationships on a package from the Product Catalog Edit Package window.
