Dynamic products are set up as "charge" volume discounts. When this type of discount is assigned at the account or service level, the customer is charged for usage, not given a credit.
To create a dynamic-charge product:
Create a Volume Discount. (See Adding and Configuring Volume Discounts.)
Configure the discount with a Discount Type of Charge. (See Volume Discount Wizard.)
Dynamic product configuration notes
Metered usage types must be created in Admin Console > Data Management > Usage Types. The usage types must have Units of "Occurrences" and Service Types of "Metered."
Select Charge on the Discount Type wizard page when configuring the volume discount.
Select Volume Units of Quantity on the Tier Units wizard page to charge based on quantity of consumption reported by usage records.
Select Per Occurrence on the Amount Type wizard page to charge a fee for every instance of metered service usage (quantity).
Select the appropriate way to measure usage on the Peak Tier Type wizard page.
Constant Amount is only available on the Amount Type wizard page if contributing and eligible factors are the same.
