Dynamic Charge Products

Dynamic Charge products facilitate collecting donations on sales by rounding up sales to a whole dollar amount ($1, $5, $10). These products are similar to discounts. The following Dynamic Charge Types are supported:

• Charge – Replaces Volume Discount set up when Discount Type = Charge. Charge is no longer an option in the Configuration Wizard for Volume Discounts. Note: In version 17.1 existing Volume Discounts set up as Charge will continue to work as is and will not require any further modifications.

• Round Up - Users can specify the round up amount as a whole dollar value, for example $1.00, $5.00, or $10.00. The IDI platform will round the total amount due to the next highest value that is greater than or equal to the current total amount due. For example, a $1.00 roundup will cause a total amount due of $32.77 to become $33.00, a $5.00 roundup will cause a total amount due of $32.77 to become $35.00, and a $10.00 roundup will cause a total amount due of $32.77 to become $40.00. Note: A $10.00 roundup will cause a total amount due of $30.00 to remain as $30.00.

• Periodic Usage Charge - This applies a flat rate charge to a subscriber’s account when their usage on a given calendar day fits specific usage criteria as defined via the Dynamic Charge wizard. For more on this, see Periodic Usage Charge.

• Prorated Charge Product - This supports prorating for products with a dynamic (sliding scale) price. This lets you account for mid-period changes and prorate the charge for a product based on the active features throughout the month. For example, you can dynamically calculate in arrears the charge for a data package where the price is based on the quantity of specific SKUs on an account across services. The calculation takes into account proration for adds and disconnects done throughout the bill period. For more on this, see Prorated Charge Product.

  Notes:

  • If there are more than one such product on an account and its services, the one with the HIGHEST charge is used.

  • If there are multiple products with the same charge, only the one with highest service type ID is used.
