Special phone number refers to a phone number (and description) associated with a product such as roadside assistance or your company's customer service. When such a product is added to a service, the corresponding entry (name and number) is automatically added to the phone book for that service.
Special phone numbers are added AFTER the order is submitted in the IDI platform. The special phone numbers are read-only in the phone book; however, order of entries in the phone book can be changed during the sale and when editing the phone book through the customer account window.
The functionality for managing Special Phone Boo Numbers is available in several areas:
Product Management:
Configuring phone book functionality by Service Type. The Phone Book tab on the New/Edit Service form lets you enable/disable phone book functionality on a service type, choose whether or not to display the phone book form in the Make Sale wizard when adding a service of this type (or when adding features to the service), and set the maximum number of phone book entries. See Configuring Service-Level Phone Book Behavior.
Configuring special phone book entries. The Phone Book Special Numbers form supports adding, deleting and enabling/disabling special numbers in Product Management. See Configuring and Managing Special Numbers.
Assignment of special phone numbers to products. This is done via the Phone Book tab on the New/Edit Product form. See Managing Phone Book Entries on a Product.
Customer Management:
The Refresh function on a Service's phone book lets you synchronize the phone book with products currently active on the service. This functionality may also be provided via SDK. See Synchronizing the Phone Book to Products Active on a Service.
Order Processing provides:
Support for automatically adding special phone book entries when products are added.
Support for automatically removing special phone book entries when products are disconnected.
