To ensure that redundant features do not get assigned to a service, you can create an Exclusive Group in the Product Catalog, and then assign similar services to it.
For example, you could create an exclusive group for all the text messaging products, and one for all the voicemail products.
How Mutual Exclusivity is Enforced
If an item that belongs to an exclusive group is assigned to an order, the system automatically checks the existing set of features/products on the service for any other item that might also be assigned to the same exclusive group.
If an existing item is found, a disconnect command is created for that item. Once on the confirmation screen, the user will be presented with the list of changes that will occur as part of adding the new item.
Notes:
A single product catalog item can only be assigned to a single exclusive group at one time.
Switching the exclusive group of an item has no effect on any currently assigned items. The exclusive groups will only pertain to those items assigned after the change.
