A Fulfillment Request is like a purchase order in that it orders items, such as handsets and accessories, from a location other than where the Sales Request was created. Once the fulfilling location has assembled the items on the request, the items are shipped to the address provided in the Fulfillment Request. When a the items in a Fulfillment are shipped, the inventory level for those items decreases.
A new Fulfillment Request is created when the Sales Request status is set to Fulfillment Pending. The Fulfillment Request receives a separate receipt number, but is linked to its associated Sales Request. If all items cannot be shipped at the same time, multiple fulfillment requests are required. Each of the fulfillment requests are linked to the original sales request.
Once the items are delivered, the Sales Request, Fulfillment Request and POS Order statuses are set to Complete.
Note:
Your company's business rules may require shipments to be held until all items can be shipped together. In that case, you would have only one fulfillment request linked to the sales request.
