The system uses the browse tags within a template as search criteria to present items to the agent during an OnlineAgent sale and when creating a SalesCentral quote.
You cannot change the name or category of a system-defined browse tag. System-defined browse tag ID numbers are less than 10,000. User-defined IDs are greater than 10,000.
If a catalog item does not have an associated browse tag, it is NOT used in OnlineAgent.
Note
The Swap Equipment transaction does not use browse tags to determine whether a handset should be displayed on the Equipment Selection Page. It uses the Product Class field of a Retail Product. If the Product Class is "Handset," the handset is displayed on the Equipment Selection page.
Plan
Tells the system that the catalog item is a Plan and should be included on the OnlineAgent Plan Selection page if it is one of the Required Tags in an Assignment Template.
Not used in SalesCentral
Handset
Tells the system that the catalog item is a Handset and to include it on the OnlineAgent Equipment Selection page if it is one of the required tags in an Assignment Template.
Not used in SalesCentral.
Service
Tells the system that the catalog item should be considered a Service and to include it on the SalesCentral Services and Features selection page if it is one of the required browse tags in an assignment template.
Not used in OnlineAgent.
Feature
Tells the system that the catalog item should be considered a Feature and to include it on the OnlineAgent Feature Selection page or on the SalesCentral Services and Features selection if it is one of the required tags in an assignment template.
Contract
Tells the system that the catalog item is a Contract and to include it on the Contract Selection page if it is one of the required tags in an assignment template.
Auto-Assign
In OnlineAgent, indicates the corresponding catalog items are "Auto-Assign" catalog items which could be automatically assigned to a cart. If this Browse Tag is used as a required browse tag in an Assignment Template, the corresponding Category in the template is treated as an Auto-Assign Category. If an item is auto-assigned, it is not displayed for selection, but is displayed on the OnlineAgent Order Summary page under "Additional Items."

The system-defined Feature browse tag is used within an assignment template Rule to tell the system that its related catalog items should be displayed on the Feature Selection page in OnlineAgent or the Services and Features page in SalesCentral.
If the system-defined Feature tag is one of the required browse tags in an assignment template rule, the name of its corresponding category is used as a heading on the OnlineAgent Feature Selection page.
A catalog item (generally a billable item) must have the system-defined Feature browse tag assigned to it before it can be displayed on the OnlineAgent Feature Selection page.
If a product has browse tags attached, but no assignment template, and one or more of its browse tags is included in an assignment template, the catalog item is displayed on the OnlineAgent Feature Selection page.
If a package's browse tags do not include the system-defined browse tag "Plan," it is treated as a Feature in OnlineAgent.
Best Practices
For all Feature products to be used in OnlineAgent, assign the system-defined Feature tag to each feature catalog item.
