Addresses with a Required Type of USPS undergo the following flow of events when first entered into the IDI platform.
The address is sent to the IDI platform's USPS address verification system for validation.
If the address contains errors when the address comes back from the validating system, you can correct the address and resubmit it for validation.
If the address is correct, the validated address is saved.
If the address is not validated, the IDI platform determines the jurisdiction using a lookup based on the State, County, and City information.
The IDI platform then derives the Tax Jurisdiction.
At billing time, or at the retail point of sale, these Tax Jurisdictions are used to determine which taxes are applied to the invoice for each account.
