Decimal Quantities on Retail Products

Prev Next

This supports the ability to specify a decimal quantity (e.g. 1.5) for a retail product on web-based transactions.   Use this solution to bill for charges or fees that do not always use a whole number value to represent the quantity of the assessed item.

For example, you need to bill for the time that your professional-technical services were on-site.   The noted agreement between all parties involved states that the end subscriber will be invoiced for each quarter of an hour that the technician is on-site.  So, the technician can then potentially be on-site for:  ¼ (.25), ½ (.5), ¾ (.75), 4/4 (1), 1 ¼ (1.25), etc. hours.

Now you can create a retail product that represents one hour or other unit of measure.  Then, when added to a transaction, enter the decimal quantity that best equates to the time or effort spent.

The ability to enter a decimal quantity for a retail product provides an improved experience for all parties involved while it reduces the risk of data entry errors.

Note:

This functionality requires Starting Blocks to be enabled in your system.

Overview

This functionality supports:

  • The ability to configure retail products in the IDI Desktop Client Product Catalog that support being added to web orders with a decimal amount as its quantity.

    Note:

This is only applicable for retail products that are not serialized and not inventoried.

  • Transactions where a decimal value to the hundredths place (e.g., 25 or 1.99) can be entered as the quantity for properly configured retail products. This also supports:

    • Calculating extended price, cost, and applicable taxes are calculated accordingly.

    • Applying on-the-fly retail discounts against the retail product’s decimal quantity and calculating the amounts accordingly.

    • Invoices (pdf documents) for retail transactions that display decimal values for quantities when applicable, and display the correct extended price and tax amounts.

  • Core web receipt and invoicing templates have been enhanced to display decimal quantities when applicable.

The following core reports have been updated to support decimal quantities:

  • POS Register > Transaction Activity Detail

  • POS Sales > Management > Sales by SKU

  • POS Sales > Management > Sales by Inventory Category

  • POS Sales > Management > Sales by Associate/Sales Channel

  • POS Sales > Management > Sales Summary By User

  • POS Sales > Management > Sales Summary by Store

  • POS Sales > Management > Sales Summary by Store by Day

  • POS Sales > Operations > Sales Detail

  • POS Sales > Operations > Sales Detail by Store

  • POS Sales > Taxes > Sales Detail with Taxes

  • POS Sales > Taxes > Tax Exempt Sales Detail
