When a new customer account is created through the Make Sale or Make Sales Request wizard, the wizard may require you to perform a credit check through the Equifax Credit Bureau. The resulting credit score is applied to a user-configured decision matrix to establish the customer's credit class and corresponding spending limit. The decision matrix also determines whether the order will be stopped, referred, or completed normally.
Note:
When an order is referred, you can finish the order in the wizard; however, the order is not submitted for fulfillment.
See Credit Scoring Decision Matrix below.
A credit check may result in the order being stopped or referred. Referred orders will trigger the creation of a follow-up ensure the issue that caused the order to be referred is investigated and resolved.
When the credit check result allows the order to be completed normally, once the customer's credit has been established, subsequent orders for the account will not require another credit check. Where the credit check results in the order being stopped or referred, subsequent orders for the account will require another credit check.
Performing a Credit Check
Generally, the credit check is done as part of the Make Sales Request wizard. See Equifax Credit Report Window.
You can also perform an ad hoc credit request independent of the wizard. See Credit Scoring.
Viewing Existing Credit Reports
You can search the system for existing credit reports based on several criteria including account number, name, credit class, request date, hit code and SafeScan code. See Credit Report Search.
Follow-ups and Journals
The IDI platform generates several journals and follow-ups in response to certain conditions related to credit scoring and account spending limits. See Follow-ups for Credit Scoring and Account Spending Limits.
