Credit Report Search

A Credit Report Search functionality provides the ability to search for all credit reports that meet a specified set of search criteria.

Note

You must be licensed to access a credit bureau and each credit bureau requires a separate license. The list displays only those credit bureaus that your company is licensed to access.

To initiate a credit report search:

  • On the Applications menu, click Credit Scoring and Deposits and select TransUnion from the Credit Report Search submenu.. Note Equifax and Experian are no longer supported.

    This displays the TransUnion Credit Report Search window.

    The TransUnion Credit Report Search window provides the following input fields for entering your search criteria:

    Report ID

    If you want a specific credit report returned in your search results, enter the desired Report ID.

    Account #

    If you want credit reports that contain a specific account number, enter the desired account number.

    Last Name

    If you want credit reports that contain a specific last name, enter the desired last name.

    Notes:

    • Wildcards may be used.

    • Last Name refers to the Last Name specified in the credit report request, not the Last Name returned in the credit report results.

    First Name

    If you want credit reports that contain a specific first name, enter the desired first name.

    Notes:

    • Wildcards may be used.

    • First Name refers to the First Name specified in the credit report request, not the First Name returned in the credit report results.

    HAWK Message

    If you want credit reports that contain a specific HAWK message, enter the desired HAWK message.

    Notes:

    • Wildcards may be used.

    • A HAWK message indicates a likelihood of a credit report containing fraudulent information. If a HAWK message is displayed, there will also be a link to access for more details.

    File Hit

    If you want credit reports that contain a specific file hit message, select the desired message from the drop-down list.

    OFAC Code

    This field is applicable for service providers that use Transunion’s OFAC Name Screen optional add-on report (6800). OFAC is an office in the US Department of the Treasury that administers and enforces economic and trade sanctions against offending entities. The OFAC screen name alert returns an OFAC notification on a subscriber’s credit report when their name matches a name on the U.S Department of Treasury’s Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list. For credit report searches the OFAC Code he drop-down menu lets you search for reports with one of these responses

    • O01 OFAC Name Screen Clear

    • O02 OFAC Name Screen Potential Hit

    • O03 OFAC Name Screen Unavailable

    From Request Date

    If you want credit reports that were requested on a specific date, enter the desired date in this field and the “To Request Date” field.

    If you want all credit reports that were requested on or before a specific date, enter the desired date in the “To Request Date” field and do not specify a date in this field.

    If you want all credit reports that were requested on or after a specific date, enter the desired date in this field and do not specify a “To Request Date”.

    If you want all credit reports that were requested during a specific time frame, enter the first date to be included in the search results in this field and the last date to be included in the search results in the “To Request Date” field.

    To Request Date

    If you want credit reports that were requested on a specific date, enter the desired date in this field and the “From Request Date” field.

    If you want all credit reports that were requested on or before a specific date, enter the desired date in this field and do not specify a “From Request Date”.

    If you want all credit reports that were requested on or after a specific date, enter the desired date in the “From Request Date” field and do not specify a date in this field.

    If you want all credit reports that were requested during a specific time frame, enter the first date to be included in the search results in the “From Request Date” field and the last date to be included in the search results in this field.

    Credit Class

    If you want credit reports that contain a specific Credit Class, select the desired Credit Class by clicking the corresponding check box.

    Note

    You may select as many check boxes as you wish - none, some, all.

  • Enter the desired search criteria and click Search. This displays the TransUnion Credit Report Search Results window. Only those credit reports that match the specified search criteria are returned in the search results.

    Notes:

    • If no search criteria are specified, all credit reports are returned in the search results.

    • If no matching credit reports are found, an empty table is displayed and the message "No records available" is displayed in the bottom left-hand corner of the search results window.

    • Depending on how your Permission Profile is set up (under Security > Profiles > Permission Profiles > Application > CostGuard Client > Credit Scoring), you will either see complete confidential information (i.e., SS number) or no confidential information. There is no masking on a TransUnion Credit Report unless a preliminary search returns more than one matching report.

Search Results

Note

The search results window will only display credit reports for accounts that are viewable based on a User Limit-To profile.

TransUnion Credit Report Search Screen

From the TransUnion Credit Report Search Results window, you can:

  • View the TransUnion credit report for a particular entry, by either double-clicking on the desired entry or right-clicking on the desired entry and selecting View Credit Report. The selected credit report is displayed in the TransUnion Credit Report window. See Requesting and Viewing a TransUnion Credit Report for additional information.

  • View the detailed TransUnion credit report for a particular entry, by right-clicking on the desired entry and selecting View Credit Report Details. The detailed results for the selected credit report are displayed in the Credit Report # Details window. See Requesting and Viewing a TransUnion Credit Report for additional information.

    Note

    View Detail must be enabled in your Permission Profile under Security > Profiles > Permission Profiles > Application > CostGuard Client > Credit Scoring. If not, the View Credit Report Details option is not provided in the submenu.

  • If an entry is a credit report for an existing customer (entry contains a value in the Account Number column), you can view that customer's account summary information by right-clicking on the desired entry and selecting View Customer. The Customer # window is displayed. See Viewing Summary Details for a Current Customer for additional information.

  • Submit a new TransUnion credit report request, by right-clicking anywhere within the data table and selecting New Credit Report. The New TransUnion Credit Report Request window is displayed. See Requesting and Viewing a TransUnion Credit Report for additional information.

    Note

    New must be enabled in your Permission Profile under Security > Profiles > Permission Profiles > Application > CostGuard Client > Credit Scoring. If not, the New Credit Report option is not provided in the submenu.
