The Create Ported-In Service Number option lets you assign a service number that is not in inventory and subsequently add that service number to inventory as a ported-in service number. This option is available from the Service Number selector button provided in the following windows:
New Customer Wizard and Add Service(s) & Feature(s) Wizard:
New Service window displayed when you Assign an inventoried service.
Service Number window displayed when you Edit an inventoried service that has been added to the current order (displayed in Orders portion of window).
Service Details window displayed for an inventoried service.
Change Service Number Wizard, when modifying the service number assigned to an inventoried service.
Service Number window displayed when you Edit an existing inventoried service that is assigned a temporary service number.
This option is also available from the Options button in Duplicate Service window in the Duplicate Service Wizard.
To assign a service number that is not in inventory and subsequently add that service number to the inventory as a ported-in service number:
Click the Service Number selector button and select Create Ported-In Service Number. This displays the Port-In Service Number window.
Enter the Port-In Service Number information as described below:
Service Number
Enter the service number you are porting in from another carrier.
Ported From
From the drop-down list, select the carrier that owns this service number.
Click OK to add the ported-in service number to the service. This populates the Service Number field with the specified ported-in service number.
Note
The ported-in service number is immediately added to the inventory assigned to this service. You do not have to wait for the order to be submitted and completed. If the order is canceled, the ported-in service number remains in inventory.
