Configuring Catalog Items to be Auto-Assigned

Prev Next

Note

Auto-Assign is not recommended for use in SalesCentral.

Some catalog items may need to be assigned based on the type of transaction. For example, your business rules may require that all new services include an activation product.

Also, some catalog items may need to be assigned based on the selection of a specific catalog item by the agent. For example, if your business rules require all smart phone handsets include an MMS provisioning product, OnlineAgent can add it to the cart automatically.

OnlineAgent uses the browse tag Auto-Assign to add those items to the cart without any action by the agent during the sale.

To automatically add a catalog item to the cart:

  • Add an assignment rule that includes the system-defined Auto-Assign browse tag as one of the required browse tags. This tells the system that the corresponding Category is an Auto-Assign category.

    Rules configuration:

    • The Maximum value for the template rule must be at least 1 (one). Although the maximum value can be any number greater than 0, the system does not validate this number when adding auto-assigned items to the cart. All the items with the required browse tags are automatically added to the cart.

    • The rule cannot have a Maximum value of zero (0) if you want the items to be auto-assigned. A maximum value of zero tells the system you want to stop an auto-assign template. (See About Stopping Auto-Assignment.)

Zero tells the system to ignore the catalog item's browse tag and the items are not added to the cart.

  • Add the Auto-Assign browse tag to the catalog item you want to be added to the cart automatically.

Remember:If an assignment rule has more than one required browse tag, the catalog item's browse tags must include all of those tags.
