Prerequisite IDI Desktop Client Setup
Equipment Assignments occur at the service level. Equipment can only be assigned to services where the service is configured to allow equipment assignment. This configuration occurs in the IDI Desktop Client Product Catalog.

Basic Steps (Inventory Web Module)
Use the Assignment OmniSearch to find the customer.

Use the down arrow to select the Assignment search option.

Enter the customer name, account number or order ID to perform the search, and then click on the Account Number link in the search results.

This displays the Equipment Assignments page for the selected customer.
Select a service and add one or more locations.

Before equipment can be assigned to a service number, a Location for the equipment has to be added to the service number. Service numbers can have multiple equipment locations.

To create an equipment location on a service, the service needs to have a service address.
A Location is defined by Service Address + Description (can be null).

Description valid values are configured in CG Client in Inventory Management > Equipment Inventories > Line Card Route Locations
The system assigns a unique numeric Location ID for each location
Multiple equipment locations for a service is supported, but the service address + description combination has to be unique.
The description can be null
On the Equipment Assignments page for the selected customer, the services that allow inventory (as set up in the Product Catalog) are listed on the left.

Select a service to which you'll be assigning equipment, then click ADD LOCATIONS.
This displays the Add Locations form.

This form lists the Service Addresses already associated to the Service. If there are no addresses listed or if additional addresses are required, click the NEW SERVICE ADDRESS button. This takes you to the Customer Care page for adding service addresses to a service.
Once you have the Service Addresses you need, select one or more Service Addresses from the list and assign a description for each.

Click Save. This adds the locations to the service.

Add equipment to the location(s).

On selecting a location on the Equipment Assignments page, you can choose to:
add equipment to the location
edit the location
remove the location
To add equipment
Select a location and click ADD EQUIPMENT.
This displays the Add Equipment form.

From here you can choose to create and add new equipment or search for and add existing equipment.
If you want to add new equipment, clicking NEW EQUIPMENT takes you to the New Equipment page. Once you've saved the new equipment, on returning to the Equipment Assignments page, click the Refresh icon to add the newly created equipment in the Assigned Equipment list.

Note
The Refresh icon is not available in Internet Explorer due to an Internet Explorer bug. If you're using Internet Explorer, you'll have to use the search tool to find the newly added equipment.
If you want to use existing equipment you can search by name, or click for more options.

The Located At Service Address check box lets you do a quick search for equipment having an assigned equipment address.
Following a search, to assign one or more items, click the corresponding link in the name column.

If the search returns more than five items, buttons are provided below the list to page through additional items.
Each equipment in the Assigned Equipment list has a color-coded pencil icon, and a red x that lets you remove the equipment item from the list.

Clicking the pencil icon displays a form for editing the equipment site, equipment address (if applicable), and attributes (if applicable).
Orange indicates the equipment has required attributes that need to be defined. Blue indicates there are no undefined required attributes.
Click the orange pencil icon for any equipment item with required attributes that need to be defined. Required attributes are indicated with an asterisk.

Once all attributes are defined for an equipment item, the pencil icon will change from orange to blue.
Note
You cannot save the assignment until the pencil icons for all equipment items are blue.
