Adding Equipment

You can add Equipment one-at-a-time or in bulk (Equipment Range). When adding an Equipment Range, each instance has a sequential number appended to its name (e.g. Cable1, Cable2, etc...).

To create Equipment One-at-a-Time:

Choose New > Equipment from the Applications menu.

This opens the New Equipment page.

Equipment parameters are organized into four sections.

• Basic Information

  Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required.

  Name (Required)	Name of this equipment being added to inventory.
  Inventory (Required)	Name of inventory where information about this equipment is stored. Select from the list (populated from IDI Desktop Client configuration).
  Cost	You may enter cost information here as needed. This is for reference only and is not used elsewhere in the application.
  Status (Required)	Status of the equipment on adding to inventory. Select from the list: Available - Not currently in use, but can be reserved and then assigned. Not Available - Not in use and cannot be reserved or assigned
  Owner	Lets you track who owns a piece of equipment. Select from the list if needed (populated from IDI Desktop Client configuration).
  Type (Required)	Kind of equipment being added to the inventory. Select from the list.
  Data Source	Name of the third-party system the equipment information is coming from, if applicable, such as CAD or DMS. Select from the list (populated from IDI Desktop Client configuration).
  Reference Number	Reference Number (identifying number you receive from another system) associated with the equipment. Used for informational purposes only.

• Locations

  This drop down menu is populated with Sites set up via the IDI Desktop Client.

• Warranties

  Warranties may be added on an optional basis. The Warranties must first be set up via the IDI Desktop Client.

  Click the ADD WARRANTY button to display the Add Warranty form.

  Add as many warranties as required. Click the associated red X to remove an added warranty.

• Additional Information

  If the type of equipment that you are adding has associated Attributes, you can set up the defaults here. These defaults can be overridden when a piece of equipment is assigned.

To create an Equipment Range:

Choose New > Equipment Range from the Applications menu.

This opens the Equipment Range page which is identical to New Equipment page, except that it has additional fields for entering the From and To range. This determines the number of equipment items to be created (e.g. From 1 To 10 will create ten identical equipment items).
