The IDI platform supports comprehensive account balance management capabilities including:
posting and tracking payments and adjustments
logging, tracking and resolving disputes
crediting invoice items
managing deposits
administering corporate accounts
Payment/adjustment transactions can be managed on four levels:
Batch files for bulk processing of payment/adjustment transactions for large sections of your customer base.
Controlled batches for handling multiple payment transactions when you have more transactions than would be practical to handle individually, but not enough to require a batch file.
Tracking and managing payments and adjustments through search tools in Accounts Receivable Management.
Managing individual customer accounts via the Customer window.
The other supporting functions (disputes, credits, deposits) are handled through the Customer window.
The E-Pay application that lets you configure recurring and non-recurring credit card and ACH (checking/savings) accounts for your customers, is integrated with the Accounts Receivable module so you can load E-Pay transactions and send them to your company's credit card processor.
Understanding Posting and Allocation
You should have a thorough understanding of how transactions are posted and funds allocated before you set up and begin using the applications for managing account balances. The posting process settles payments and adjustments by allocating the funds according to predetermined allocation methods which are assigned to customer accounts through Accounts Receivable Groups. A full history of settlement and allocation is available for tracking and reporting.
For more on posting and allocation see Posting and Allocation Considerations.
