Usage Types

The Usage Types table stores the lists of call types. This table contains both System and User Defined usage types.

This table populates Usage Type lists on Pricing Plan Details, Discount Configuration, and Contract Term Details in Product Management; and General Ledger Distance Override in Backoffice Management > General Ledger > Accounts.

To set up and maintain the Usage Types table:

  • Under Data Management double-click Usage Types. This displays the Usage Types window.

    The Usage Types window contains the following information:

    ID
    (read only)

    System-generated identifier that uniquely identifies the usage type. The system uses this number to identify the usage type for each call.

    User-defined Usage Types have IDs greater than 10000.

    Name

    Usage type name.

    Abbreviation

    Specific Usage Types are tied to an abbreviation for a (audio), w (web), and f (feature) for bill presentment.

    Units

    Determines how calls are counted: in seconds, by occurrence, or by percentage.

    Note

    If you select Percentage, you should increase the Maximum Call Duration in the Audit section of Rating and Billing Options.

    Service Type

    Kind of service that uses the usage type, such as long distance or local.

    Tax Category

    Kind of tax associated with the usage type (toll, local, etc.).

    Invoice Category

    Invoice category associated with the usage. “Main” is the default.

    Originating

    Selected: The usage type is originating, for example, 800 service.

    Cleared: The usage type is not originating, for example, equal access.

    Display

    Selected: The usage type is displayed in the drop-down lists in Product Management.

    Cleared: The usage type is not be displayed in the drop-down lists in Product Management.

    Rated

    Selected: The IDI platform rates the calls.

    Cleared: The IDI platform does not rate the calls, the charge on the CDR is used as the rate for the calls.

    Use In OnlineBill

    Selected: The usage type is displayed in OnlineBill.

    Cleared: The usage type is not displayed in OnlineBill.

    Int'l To Int'l

    Selected: The usage type is "International to International" for taxing purposes.

    Cleared: The usage type is not considered "International to International" for taxing purposes.

    Refillable Data

    Selected: The usage type is designated as refillable and can be included in a refill data package.

    Cleared: The usage type cannot be used in a refill data package.
