The Rounding option affects the way charges for individual calls are displayed on screen and in printed reports. Each usage instance is rated and rounded independently allowing for usage records that are split to be rounded separately. For example, both airtime and toll are rounded even if they are derived from one record. The system stores up to four decimal places in the usage database.
Options
None - This option is used for Business reports where the customer wants to see each usage item recorded to 4 decimal places. It only affects usage amounts; recurring and non-recurring charges, taxes, finance charges, etc., will be rounded using the conventional method. The IDI platform truncates the computed charge to 4 decimal places for storage in your database. Note: This option is not intended for Residential reports. See considerations below.
Conventional - Numbers less than 5 are rounded down to the nearest cent. Numbers equal to or greater than 5 are rounded up to the nearest cent. Examples:
$1.03338 computed charge will be stored as $1.0334 and rounded to $1.03
$1.03384 computed charge will be stored as $1.0338 and rounded to $1.03
$1.03528 computed charge will be stored as $1.0353 and rounded to $1.04
$1.03815 computed charge will be stored as $1.0382 and rounded to $1.04
Up - All usage values will be rounded up. Examples:
$1.0338 will be rounded to $1.04
$1.0344 will be rounded to $1.04
$1.0352 will be rounded to $1.04
$1.0381 will be rounded to $1.04
Considerations for Residential and Business Reports
Residential reports always display usage charges with two decimal places. Business reports display usage charges with four decimal places when None is the selected rounding option, or two decimal places for Conventional or Up..
Because Residential reports always display only two decimal places, the truncating of these numbers may cause the individual two-decimal usage numbers in Residential reports to appear incorrectly. The values displayed for individual calls may not add up to the actual correct usage total (calculated by the system) unless you choose Conventional or Up as a Rounding Option for Residential reports.

$1.034457 computed charge will be stored as $1.0344 and displayed as $1.03
$1.035233 computed charge will be stored as $1.0352 and displayed as $1.03
