For a quick overview of the IDI Desktop Client toolbar functionality, see Overview.

Permissions for Managing Toolbars and Toolbar Profiles

The ability to create toolbars and toolbar profiles, and to assign toolbar profiles is restricted through permissions configured in the Admin Console. Permissions for working with toolbars and toolbar profiles are assigned on two levels: Company-level and Personal-level:

Path

When Enabled...

Application > CostGuard Client > Tools > Toolbars > CompanyToolbar Profiles

Lets you add, modify and delete Company-level toolbars and toolbar profiles.

Application > CostGuard Client > Tools > Toolbars > PersonalToolbar Profiles

Lets you add, modify and delete personal toolbars and toolbar profiles. Also lets you change your assigned toolbar profile.

Assigning Toolbar Profiles

Typically, toolbar profiles are assigned to users by an administrator-level user when user accounts are created in the Admin Console. If you have Personal Toolbar Profiles permission you may assign yourself a different toolbar profile directly in the Client.

The My Toolbar Profile form lets you select a toolbar profile to use. If you've already been assigned a toolbar profile via the Admin Console, this form lets you select a different toolbar profile. You can also remove all client toolbars from your Client view by selecting no profile.

You must have the PersonalToolbar Profiles permission enabled to use this form.

To select a toolbar:

  1. From the menu bar select Tools > Toolbars > My Toolbar Profile.

  2. Select the toolbar profile from the drop-down menu. This menu contains all default and company profiles as well as your own personal profile (if you have created a personal profile for yourself).

  3. Click Save. This adds the toolbars associated with this profile to your Client view under the main menu bar (default location).

    Note

To remove all toolbars from your Client screen, select the empty (blank) option in the drop-down menu and click Save.

Creating Toolbars and Toolbar Profiles

Users with Company-level toolbar permission may create and modify Company-level toolbars and toolbar profiles. Users with Personal-level toolbar permission may create their own Personal toolbars and toolbar profiles, and then select their personal toolbar profile. To access this functionality, from the menu bar select Tools > Toolbars > All Toolbar Profiles.

Adjusting Toolbar Presentation

You can begin very simply by using the existing Default toolbars and toolbar profile, or build custom toolbars and profiles. You have three basic alternatives:

  • Let all users use the Default profile. This profile contains the Standard default toolbar which includes commands for basic customer service representative activities. To assign a toolbar profile, see Assigning Toolbar Profiles.

  • Use the Default toolbars to build custom Company-level toolbar profiles. See Creating Toolbars and Toolbar Profiles below.

  • Create custom Company-level toolbars. Since you cannot customize the Default toolbar profile, and because toolbars must be created in the context of a toolbar profile, at least one Company-level toolbar profile must be in place in order to create Company-level toolbars. See Creating Toolbars and Toolbar Profiles below.

Adjusting Toolbar Presentation

You can adjust your toolbar presentation by moving toolbars around the IDI Desktop Client and re-arranging commands within the toolbar. Toolbar presentation adjustments are not available in "operations" mode. They must be done in "customize" mode through the Tools menu.

  • From the Client menu bar select Tools > Toolbars > All Toolbar Profiles.

  • Right-click on the Toolbar Profile you wish to customize and select Customize.

  • Select (check) the toolbar(s) that you want to adjust if not already selected.

Removing a Command from the Toolbar

To remove a command, right-click on the command and select Remove.

Rearranging Commands on a Toolbar

To rearrange commands on the toolbar, press and hold the Alt key and click on the command you want to move. When you see the I-beam, drag and drop the command to the new location on the toolbar. As you drag the command you'll see the I-beam move as well. This lets you know where to drop the command.

  • to display vertically on the left side of the Client screen.

  • horizontally on the bottom of the Client screen.

  • from side-to-side (when displayed horizontally).

  • up-and-down (when displayed vertically).

  • to combine two or more toolbars on the same line.

    Note

If a toolbar exceeds the width (or height) of the Client screen, the overflow commands are hidden and can be made available via the Arrow button at the end of the toolbar.
