Duplicating a Trouble Ticket

Prev Next

You can create a new trouble ticket by duplicating an existing trouble ticket with similar specifications. This is convenient when you need to generate multiple trouble tickets that have essentially the same data, with minor exceptions.

For example, you may have a problem that pertains to four different addresses and you need to generate a separate trouble ticket for each address. In this case you will only need to change the street address on the Location tab for each trouble ticket. To create these four trouble tickets:

  1. Create a trouble ticket for address #1, enter all of the appropriate information, and click Save.

  2. Duplicate the trouble ticket created in the previous step (details below), change the address on the Location tab to address #2, and click Save.

  3. Repeat the previous step for addresses #3 and #4.

    Note

You can only duplicate an open trouble ticket.

    To duplicate a trouble ticket:

  1. From the Journals tab, right-click on the row that contains the trouble ticket you want to copy and select Duplicate Trouble Ticket.

This displays the New Trouble Ticket window.

    Notes:

    • The fields on the Trouble tab are populated with the data from the original trouble ticket.

    • The fields on the Location and Contact tabs are blank and are NOT populated with the data from the original trouble ticket.

  2. Make the desired changes and/or add the desired information on the Trouble, Location, and Contact tabs. See Adding a Trouble Ticket for details.

  3. Click Save to create a new trouble ticket.

    Note

If you attempt to duplicate a closed trouble ticket, you will get an error when you click Save to create the new trouble ticket.
