Closing a Stand Alone Trouble Ticket

Prev Next

Note

When a Stand Alone trouble ticket is closed, it is deleted from the Stand Alone Trouble Tickets window and can no longer be viewed from the Stand Alone Trouble Tickets window. Closed Stand Alone trouble tickets can only be viewed using the Trouble Ticket Search function.

The following conditions must exist to close a Stand Alone trouble ticket:

  • The Stand Alone trouble ticket must be open.

  • The Stand Alone trouble ticket must not be on hold.

  • The Stand Alone trouble ticket must not be a Child trouble ticket (must not be assigned/linked to another trouble ticket).

You can close an existing Stand Alone Trouble Ticket from the Stand Alone trouble Ticket window (method 1 below), or from the Edit Stand Alone Trouble Ticket window if you have that window open (method 2).

Method 1

  1. From the Stand Alone Trouble Tickets window, right-click on the Stand Alone trouble ticket and select Close Trouble Ticket.

This displays the Trouble Ticket Resolution window.

  2. Select a resolution and click OK. This closes the Stand Alone trouble ticket and deletes it from the Stand Alone Trouble Tickets window.

    Note

When you close a Parent Stand Alone trouble ticket, all Child trouble tickets currently assigned to that Parent are also closed and deleted from the Stand Alone Trouble Tickets window.

Method 2

  1. From any of the tabs within the Edit Stand Alone Trouble Ticket window, click the Close Trouble Ticket button at the bottom of the window.

    Note

The Close Trouble Ticket button is not provided if you are modifying a Child Stand Alone trouble ticket.

This displays the Trouble Ticket Resolution window.

  2. Select a resolution and click OK. This closes the Stand Alone trouble ticket and deletes it from the Stand Alone Trouble Tickets window.

    Note

When you close a Parent Stand Alone trouble ticket, all Child trouble tickets that are currently assigned to that Parent are also closed and deleted from the Stand Alone Trouble Tickets window.
