Browse Tags let you easily categorize items in the Product Catalog. You can tag a catalog item by market, manufacturer, color, and/or other factors. For example, a phone could be tagged by all of the following: Samsung, Galaxy, and blue.
The IDI platform supplies eleven system defined browse tags which have specific functions. However, you can create additional browse tags.
System defined Browse Tags:
| Indicates the corresponding catalog items are "Plan" catalog items. Not used in SalesCentral |
| Indicates the corresponding catalog items are "Handset" catalog items. Not used in SalesCentral. |
| Indicates the corresponding catalog items are "Feature" catalog items. |
| Indicates the corresponding catalog items are "Accessory" catalog items. Currently not in use. |
| Indicates the corresponding catalog items are "Contract" catalog items. |
| Indicates the corresponding catalog items are "Auto-Assign" catalog items which could be automatically assigned to a cart. If this Browse Tag is used as a Required Browse Tag in an Assignment Template, the corresponding Category in the template is treated as an Auto-Assign Category. |
| Indicates the corresponding catalog items are "Service" catalog items. Currently not used in OnlineAgent. |
| Indicates the corresponding catalog items can be assigned at the account level. Currently not used in OnlineAgent. |
| Indicates the corresponding catalog items are "Discount" catalog items. Currently not used in OnlineAgent. |
| Indicates the corresponding catalog items are "Retail Product" catalog items. Currently not used in OnlineAgent. |
| Indicates the corresponding catalog items are "Pricing Plan" catalog items. Currently not used in OnlineAgent. |
Notes:
System defined Browse Tag names and categories cannot be deleted.
System defined Browse Tag ID numbers are less than 10,000. User defined IDs are greater than 10,000.
Once a browse tag has been created, you can include it on the Browse Tags tab of a catalog item. (See New Product - Browse Tags Tab.)
You can also add it to the Browse Tags tab by adding the catalog item to the Associated Products list on a browse tag. (See Adding, Editing, and Viewing Browse Tags.) This method is faster if you want to add multiple catalog items to a particular browse tag.

Retail Products
Packages (Plans)
Contracts
Accessing Browse Tags
To access Browse Tags:
From the Applications menu, select Product Management > Browse Tags > Browse Tags. This displays the list of existing browse tags.

Each row contains the following information:
ID
Read-only numerical identifier of the browse tag. System defined ID numbers are less than 10000. User defined ID numbers are greater than 10000.
Name
Name of the browse tag.
Note
You cannot change the name of a system defined Browse Tag.
Category
Browse Tag Category associated with the browse tag.
Note
You cannot change the Category of a system defined browse tag.
Note
This Category is not the same as the Category field within an assignment template.
Display as Root
Items are displayed as root folders when browsing in Orders.
Display as Child
Items are displayed as child folders when browsing in Orders.
Using the Browse Tags shortcut menu, you can access following options:
Opens an existing browse tag. | |
Removes the browse tag from the list. | |
Opens the Add Browse Tag window so you can create a browse tag. | |
Creates a copy of the selected browse tag which you can edit. |
