Calling Group products are used to rate usage between specified customers at a special rate. For example, if customer “Acme Buffalo” and customer “Acme Atlanta” are both assigned a Calling Group product called “Acme East,” calls from “Acme Buffalo” to “Acme Atlanta” are rated differently than calls from “Acme Buffalo” to other numbers in Atlanta.
When a call is made, if the originating customer belongs to one or more calling groups, the system checks the calling group to verify the service type is included in that calling group. If the terminating customer belongs to the same calling group, the system checks the service type to verify it is in the calling group. The system then changes the usage type to Intra-Group and rates the call at the special rate.
Calling Group products are assigned at the customer level to include all service numbers for that customer as long as the service number types are included in the Calling Group Rules as set up in Product Catalog.
To view Calling Groups and their associated customers:
From the Applications menu, select Customer Management > Calling Groups. This displays the list of Calling Groups.

The Calling Groups window contains the following information:

You can view the customers included in each Calling Group. These are often customers in a Corporate Account. To do this:

Right-click on a customer and select View Customer to open the customer record.
Note
The Pricing Plans associated with service numbers that are part of a Calling Group must include rates for the Intra-Group usage type.
