Using a POS Guided Order

This section shows you what a guided order looks like in the POS Front Office Make Sale Wizard. It demonstrates the operation of selectable and non-selectable folders.

The folder hierarchy that drives this guided order is illustrated below and described in the following table.

POS Guided Assignment Structure

Summary:
The guided order is triggered by the sale of a handset that points to the *Motorola CDMA Handset Is Related Items* folder. There are three sibling folders under the Is Related Items folder - Plans, Moto Accessories and Insurance Plans. All are configured as selectable, and are presented in an order dictated by the Step Order property. The Plans folder is configured as selectable to let you skip it if the handset is sold as a replacement and a plan is already in place. The Plans folder has a child Contracts folder which is configured as not selectable. If you select the Plans folder and assign a plan, the guided order forces you to assign a contract as well. All other folders are selectable with varying Choose types according to the folder contents.

This example starts at the point in the Make Sale wizard where the guided order begins (after the triggering product has been added).

When you add a designated product in the Make Sale wizard, the corresponding guided order is triggered and presents a list of selectable folders.

Select one or more folders as required.
Click Next to continue. The Plans folder is presented first since it was selected in the previous step and its Step Order = 1. At this step you are instructed to select one plan. This limit is set via the Choose property for this folder (Choose 1 to 1). The wizard will not let you choose more than one item, nor will it let you continue without choosing one item.
Click Next to continue. The guided order forces you to assign a contract if a plan has been added to the order. The Contracts folder is a nonselectable folder, and is presented next since it's a child of the Plans folder. At this step you are instructed to select one contract.
Click Next to continue. The contents of the Moto Accessories folder is displayed (Step Order = 2). Since the Choose Type for this folder has no restrictions, you may choose as many folders as you want (or none).
Click Next to continue. The Charger folder Step Order = 1 so it is the first child folder to be presented. This folder is unrestricted. Select one or more items (or none).
Click Next to continue. The Batteries folder Step Order = 2. This folder is unrestricted. Select one or more items (or none).
Click Next to continue. The Cases folder Step Order = 3. This folder is unrestricted. Note how the Instruction pane is used to provide helpful information. Select one or more items (or none).
When the guided part of the order is finished, the Make Sale wizard will continue with standard operating procedures (print a quote or complete the sale and tender).
