Total Count Rating

Like the Total Occurrence rating method, the Total Count rating method rates the usage just before billing. Unlike Total Occurrences, Total Count ignores the Duration field in the usage record. Total Count counts the number of usage records for the service number, determines the proper tier, and rates all the usage records accordingly.

An example using an occurrence-based usage type - the Rate Details are configured as below.

In a bill period, if all the usage files for the service number contained 6 usage records, the charge would be $.30 ($.05 x 6).

In a bill period, if all the usage files for the service number contained 26 usage records, the charge would be $.78 ($.03 x 26).

An example using a seconds-based usage type - the Rate Details are configured as below.

In a bill period, if all the usage files for the service number contained 6 usage records, the charge would be $.30 ($.05 x 6).

In a bill period, if all the usage files for the service number contained 26 usage records, the charge would be $.78 ($.03 x 26).

An example using a percentage-based usage type - the Rate Details are configured as below.

In a bill period, if all the usage files for the service number contained 6 usage records with durations as listed below, the charge would be [(50000 + 60000 + 120000 + 40000 + 20000 + 40000)/1000000] x $.05 = $0.0165. The tier is determined by counting the number of records (6). The charge is determined following the percentage-based usage formula:

(Duration / 1000000) * Rate Plan Detail Amount = Charge Amount

• Usage Record 1 has a duration of 50000 (equal to 5%)

• Usage Record 2 has a duration of 60000 (equal to 6%)

• Usage Record 3 has a duration of 120000 (equal to 12%)

• Usage Record 4 has a duration of 40000 (equal to 4%)

• Usage Record 5 has a duration of 20000 (equal to 2%)

• Usage Record 6 has a duration of 40000 (equal to 4%)
