Edit permissions for taxes are limited to the Tax Rate and the End Date fields in tax details (see the information for each tax type). When the tax database is updated, these fields are not overwritten.
Warning
If you edit the End Date, Tax Rate, or Tax Tiers, the monthly download of the tax database will not overwrite the edited fields. Once you make a change, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to ensure, from that point forward, that the modified tax information is correct and kept up to date. For example, if you change a tax rate and IDI discontinues that tax the following month, creating a new one, you will need to go into the database and manually discontinue that tax. If you do not remove the tax from the database, double taxing will occur.
When tax rate changes are made by IDI, the existing rate is terminated and a new tax entry is added. This could potentially result in double taxation if your company's changes to these fields are not closely monitored.
To notify IDI of a new tax or surcharge, or a change in rate, please contact Customer Support.
