Rate seconds are used as a means to denote the “base unit” of measurement, which the IDI platform uses to compute charges. The solution computes all rates based on a per minute (60 seconds) charge. The rate second field is used as a calculator when the rate you want to charge does not easily convert to a per minute rate (e.g., $0.08 per 3 minute call). The rate second field affects all of the rates in the associated rate details record; this includes both the initial amount and the additional amounts.
Note
The default number for rate seconds is 60. Because the IDI platform rates on a per minutes charge, it is strongly recommended that this value NOT be changed to anything less than 60 seconds.
