Limiting IDI Desktop Client to One Open Instance of an Account at a Time

Prev Next

Some users may want to prevent having more than one instance of a customer account open in IDI Desktop Client. An Admin Console setting called Prevent Multiple Instances when Viewing Customer lets users choose whether or not to prevent multiple instances of the same customer account to be opened in the Client.

The setting defaults to unchecked (allow multiple instances).

Note:

This setting is not accessible by customers and will require a service request to change.

The path is:

Business Rules > Local Services > CostGuardService > Customer Management Settings > Customer Search

When the setting is checked, a second window for an account cannot be opened in the client. If the account is accessed through the customer search or another search, the existing window for the account will come to the front, as the active window.

When the setting is unchecked, there is no change in how client functions when opening a customer account. Multiple windows will open if the customer account is accessed multiple times.
