You can organize inventories into groups and group types, to simplify maintenance, tracking, and assignment of inventoried items. The system uses Inventory Groups and Group Types to:
Add items to inventory.
Retrieve items from inventory.
Assign inventoried items to customers.
Organize inventoried items for display purposes.
To view the inventory groups currently defined in the system:
Click Applications > Inventory Management > Inventory Groups. This displays the Inventory Groups window.

The Inventory Groups window provides the following information:
Group Type
Name of the Group Type which organizes inventory groups into categories, for example: region, rate center, or state.
Inventory Group
Name of the Inventory Group which further organizes inventories into sub-groups to aid in inventory assignment and tracking, for example: Region A, Region B, and so on.
Total Items
Total number of inventoried items in this Inventory Group.

This field is automatically updated and cannot be changed.
Available Items
Number of inventoried items in this Inventory Group that are available for assignment (have an inventory status of Available).

To display the groups assigned to a particular group type, select the group type in the Group Types list on the left. This displays the groups assigned to the selected group type in a table on the right side of the Inventory Groups window.

Inventory Groups populate the lists on the following:
Service Number Inventory Search window.
Select Inventory Groups page of the Additional Service Numbers Wizard.
Store Info tab of a POS store location (for wireless).
Choose Available Service Numbers dialog when assigning a service to a customer.
Select Inventory Group dialog when assigning a service to a customer.
