Exemptions by Catalog Item

Tax exemptions can be added to catalog items, including

  • products

  • packages

  • pricing plans

    The process is similar for each.

    Note

    The Edit Package Tax Tab contains two additional fields for general exemptions. You can indicate that a tax is at a Component Level or is Federal Excise Exempt.

    To place a tax exemption on a catalog item:

    1. Select Applications > Product Management > Product Catalog.

    2. Select a specific Product, Package or Pricing Plan; right-click and select Edit, then click the Taxes tab. This displays the appropriate Edit form.

General Exemptions

  1. Check the Subject To E911box if it applies to this item.

  2. Select a Distance Type from the drop-down list, if appropriate.

    The middle of this form lists general exemptions that can be applied to this catalog item.

  3. Select any general exemptions that you want applied.

Extended Exemptions

The bottom of the Taxes tab lists extended exemptions. These are very specific tax exemptions that are a subset of a general exemption. Use this area to add or delete an extended exemption.

Add/Edit/Delete an Extended Exemption

To add an extended exemption:

  1. Right-click in this section and choose a jurisdiction: Federal, State, County, City or Regional.

    The Add Extended [jurisdiction name] Exemption form is displayed.

  2. Either select an exemption and click Add, or double-click the exemption. The exemption row is displayed in the Extended Exemptions section of the form.

    To edit an extended exemption:

  3. Select an exemption and click Edit, or double-click the exemption. Make any necessary changes and click Save to continue.

    To delete an extended exemption:

  4. Right-click or double-click the exemption and select Delete.
